Given the pole bases are oblong and sit on a circular concrete base (the ones we see that are presently installed) hanging over the sides with an 8-12" space underneath, should be interesting to see how they cover this up and the fit and finish don't look like some half assed patch job. FFS they had 3 years to figure this all out...

One would have thought the permanent pieces would have ready after all this time.

Speaking of lightposts, did the city not have something like a five year plan to switch all lights to LEDs? We must be something like on year 3 now, wonder if they'll hit that target.

There is more to the story than what we are being told. My take is that the posts we are now seeing are not what was ordered (and may not even be from the same suppliers) and is a substitution the City accepted OR the City changed the spec for the supply of these for some reason (but why?) and somewhere in the puzzle is the cause of the delays. And it appears the circular concrete bases were put in place that appear to be the right fit for the posts we see in the public render - but the installed posts have an oblong base - very different as are the design of the posts. Hence my comment as to what the final coverup on the bottom of the poles will look like. Now a citizen should not have to be doncerned with something so simple - but given the long list of major projects fucked up by the City - and seeing the issues on a small job of pole replacment it's enough to send taxpayers out looking for answers.

Hmm. My favourite slumlord pal is now buying distressed properties in the Forrest Heights area. This should be interesting

Why the hell would anyone even want to sell a used jockstrap to this guy, never mind property? You'd have to reach a rock-bottom level of desperation to deal with him. And why is it that our laws don't freeze the assets of a convicted felon, or block any deals he's making?

Were they supposed to pour oval piles...
These are the poles that were ordered, I was sent a rough rendering of them a couple years ago and the rendering I already linked to has been on that architect's website for a long time. http://www.terryfrostdesign.com/#/jasper/ look like magic it shows the actual base cover. Wowwee a tapered sleeve, so complicated, magical and fancy or you know, entirely normal.
Yea, this has gone embarrassingly poorly and run on way too long, but turn down the conspiracy theories.

I hope your right. The poles now in place do not have the middle piece as per the render. Maybe they can add that after? I love the design on the architect's website. As to the oblong pole base sitting on the round circular concrete installed - this is evident by the pictures posted including this one:

They have been looking for someone for months, or they have gone through a few people.

Crash sounds like a flop house - an overnight place. And they call it boutique...and local lol. There are "real" local boutique hotels owned by WestCorp.

Exactly. I hope they use battleship linoleum on the floors ensure the mattresses are wrapped in pee proof coverings.

This is a big deal for risk managers and insurance law. Will be the leading case for this type of insurance I'm told.
