Huh, you learn something new every day. There must be some kind of technical, economic, or legislative reason behind not seeing conversions from A340s to A330s, though, otherwise I'd assume that this kind of conversion would be relatively popular.

I thought it was a brilliant way to keep the terminal roads somewhat clearer. Sure, cost them a bit of money, but it kept traffic much more sane, I liked it.

Being impressed is a subjective matter, i'll give you that, but your underlying logic about why you are unimpressed with YUL's numbers is ultimately flawed.

If i used your logic, I would equally be unimpressed by YYC's numbers, what with the fact that MEM, a city just as populous, handles 50x the cargo that YYC does.

Primary reason for getting rid of free parking for first thirty minutes is the walking time between new terminal arrivals hall and the existing short term parkade. Additionally, there is no way to split parkade 2 between short term and long term zones. Consequently parkers would not have enough time to get in, pick up there passengers, walk back to car and get to the exit gates with thirty minutes.

The offset to no more free thirty minute parking is the cell phone wait zone.

Only Airbus has the ability to get a re-engine 343 into a 333 hybrid past the aviation safety authorities. However there is zero incentive for Airbus to spend dollars on a 343 re-engine program when they can sell a brand new 242 tonne 333 for no further design investment.

Or park on the street just to the north of the terminal in the new industrial areas that are being developed - hell, there's even a Tim Hortons up there now and you don't have to deal with the cell phone lot craziness that can happen at times. Plus you can maybe pick up a geocache or two while waiting.

It took me awhile to train my Edmonton family to do that, instead of endlessly circling around the short term parking area looking in vain for a spot there. Park, RELAX, pay = lower blood pressure.

Got in last night on an Air Canada flight from Toronto (2am). The plane was late in and was parked at a gate at the end of the US pre-clearance pier (which was not in effect). Due to construction we were routed down the pier, left at the security station into the westjet pier, down to luggage, then had to walk the entire length of the terminal in arrivals in order to get back to the Air Canada luggage carousel. Its 2 am and passengers were pissed. I know construction causes issues, but this arrangement is crazy.

By January you haVe a choice of Marriott properties, both connected to the terminal. The is the legacy Delta hotel and the brand new full service Marriott that will open in mid September.

I am assuming you are travelling to PVR and not PVG and arriving on the late night flight from YYZ. If this is the case I would recommend not bothering with the Close in airport hotels like the Hilton properties (Homewood and Hampton) or the Wyndham properties.

I live 2.5 hours north of YBR, but always fly out of YWG because the timing at YBR sucks. It's only an extra half hour drive anyway.

I'm coming in on the Westjet flight that arrives at 10:03 from YWG. I leave at 6:00 a.m. for PVR. I picked the Acclaim. It's not far from the airport but has a shuttle, so it'll be okay. I only expect to get about 4 hours sleep anyway, so I wanted to keep costs to a minimum for a room I'm barely going to use.

If you work for a large employer or government, or are travelling with someone who is, the airport Delta can be very competitive.

hmm I'm not quite sure that's true, at least on YYC's website, Parkade 2's got both long term and short term sections. Besides I don't see how walking time has anything to do with the 30 minute free... The Authority never really gave out an explanation anyway, maybe yyc_engineer might know why they did it. I still think it's the $$$$.

I did an extended stay at the Acclaim a few years ago. Back then it was rather nice. Jacuzzi on the rooftop (closes at 10pm) was fun.
