Ramako: The photo you quoted is the best shot of Vancouver I've ever seen, but since you insist on inviting a comparison, I personally think Vancouver's is the only major skyline in the country that only has a couple of impressive angles, since it looks like a flat green glass blob from most sides. Me: the people who always say "that's the bad angle" of their city's skyline pics, are usually the same ones who say of other cities' skyline pics "that's the best angle yet!"

Ramako: It takes a special kind of insecurity to (i) essentially boast about one's city objectively having the best skyline (which I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone on this forum do); then (ii) attack others for pointing out that - horror of all horrors - it's not also their favourite skyline.

Me: Oh please, how many times have we seen "Toronto #1, Calgary #2, etc", or "Wrong, your city has the best setting" And it's totally ok. Objectively... Vancouver has tons of bad angles.

Well, that's it. I'm officially on the wrong end of the generation gap. Because I read this twice, and I still can't understand it. Probably because I'm not on social media, and I've never taken a selfie in my life (and for the first long while I thought "selfie" was a euphemism for, you know).

I think it has something to do with "hating on Vancouver" and the

emoticon, the latter seemingly now dleung's trademark. Am I right?

I think his charge that I "fuss over the lighting in [my] selfies" is supposed to refer to me supposedly making a habit of defending pics of Toronto's skyline by claiming it's a "bad angle", which is totally perplexing as I don't think I've ever done that, at least certainly not within the last couple of years that I can remember. In fact I tend to avoid commenting on Toronto's skyline altogether as I don't believe most people in the Canada section want to read what a poster thinks about his or her own city's skyline. The narrative that he's trying to push is a total fabrication, as least insofar as it relates to me.

But since we're on the subject, yes there are indeed parts of Toronto's skyline I don't love. I'm not sure how that somehow makes me a "teenage girl", to quote dleung.

dleung, I had interpreted your initial comment - that nobody thinks Vancouver has a bad angle - as some kind of claim that Vancouver has an objectively superior skyline. That's what I took issue with, and that's why I responded the way I did. If your only point was that Vancouverites, in contrast to other Canadians, don't have the impetus or feel any need to defend their city's skyline for whatever reason, I can't speak to that. Frankly it's not a subject that's ever really crossed my mind. Preach on if it suits you.

I couldn't care less what people think about skylines. It's a superficial, opinionated topic. However, the alternative to the occasional bickering and troll hunting is even worse. This unbelievably large head can only mock, instigate and, post stuff he pulled out of his ass. You're just going to breed more by not calling out their intent every now and then.

Seen SVPs making a base salary of 300K doing the same thing and they get away with it because no one cares. If that's maturity than I'm glad I missed that boat.
