We've had this discussion a million times, if you are judging the skyline by buildings, there is no comparison, Toronto has more buildings, taller buildings and way more variety. If you are looking at natural setting Toronto will never win, because there are far more physically beautiful places all over the country.

I don't mean this with regards to Toronto's skyline specifically, but there's more to a skyline than the number of buildings and their height. The beauty of a skyline is more than a quantitative exercise, and as such different people will find different skylines attractive.

The mountains are really close to the city. The closest bald peaks are only 54 kilometers from city hall in the east end of the downtown core, and only 40 kilometers from the western border of the city. The Moose range in Kananskis, with a prominence of 600 meters (height 2400 meters).

Me: Vancouver is the only major city on this forum where no one has ever defended a skyline photo with "oh, that's the bad angle", "missing half the skyline", etc

Ramako: The photo you quoted is the best shot of Vancouver I've ever seen, but since you insist on inviting a comparison, I personally think Vancouver's is the only major skyline in the country that only has a couple of impressive angles, since it looks like a flat green glass blob from most sides. This is the view north from my living room window in my apartment:

It's actually taken from the roof of my building, but my apartment is only three floors below the roof (24th floor) and the view is identical. I'm just inside the Outer Ring Road in SW Shanghai, so my view to the north is very dense, as you can see - the view south, below, is much less so.

Well, that's it. I'm officially on the wrong end of the generation gap. Because I read this twice, and I still can't understand it. Probably because I'm not on social media, and I've never taken a selfie in my life (and for the first long while I thought "selfie" was a euphemism for, you know).

I think it has something to do with "hating on Vancouver" and the emoticon, the latter seemingly now dleung's trademark. Am I right?
