Has anyone else seen pricing for building material costs drop locally? If the prices are dropping here, you would think that would be an ideal time to build.
Selling our excess goods/equipment to the US and then turning around and buying local would be a great way to stimulate our pocket books and economy. I know I did that with car parts in the early 2000's.

International metal prices (in $US) are about half of what they were a couple years ago (copper prices, steel prices, raw iron ore prices). Copper has dropped a lot locally but I don't know about steel. The high costs the last few years were primarily labour and excess profits that have to have been bid out of the market by now. Drywall in particular was obscene (labour not the product) the last few years - I don't know if that is coming down yet or not. Roofing costs have come down - the price change of materials has been marginal, what has changed is lowering of bids to get work. Concrete???? I have no idea?
