Any word on what either of those are?
The mostly finished buildings are DSW with Brown's Social House behind.

Ahhh! I forgot about that shoe place; now that building makes sense.

Jones New York could be clearing out soon though; that whole company is in bankcruptcy proceedings now I think.

You have to think that construction prices have come down with various firms bidding harder for work. The economy is double edged....when it was hot, construction costs held projects back as well.

This. Price of materials should come down a touch, especially concrete, in a slower cycle.

I'm still skeptical that CP is actually going to get built.

The only thing that I have seen come down is the price of fuel. There is less US material/goods shopping, so the local economy 'should' be utilized more.

Has anyone else seen pricing for building material costs drop locally? If the prices are dropping here, you would think that would be an ideal time to build.

Selling our excess goods/equipment to the US and then turning around and buying local would be a great way to stimulate our pocket books and economy. I know I did that with car parts in the early 2000's.

DSW...DSW...I know it's likely obvious, but it's not coming to me?

Anything coming out of the USA is grossly expensive right now due to the exchange - so it likely offsets any potential material costs that are realized a result of a slow market.

International metal prices (in $US) are about half of what they were a couple years ago (copper prices, steel prices, raw iron ore prices). Copper has dropped a lot locally but I don't know about steel. The high costs the last few years were primarily labour and excess profits that have to have been bid out of the market by now. Drywall in particular was obscene (labour not the product) the last few years - I don't know if that is coming down yet or not. Roofing costs have come down - the price change of materials has been marginal, what has changed is lowering of bids to get work. Concrete???? I have no idea?

The local price of concrete is not going to fall with the bypass going forward.

The former Denver Pizza at Winnipeg and Sask Dr is expanding. Does anyone know the tenant?

Makes sense when you say it's at Sask Dr and Winnipeg instead of just giving an address.

Does anybody know what is happening on the corner of Albert and 14th, in the empty lot where the gas station used to be? There is a backhoe on site.

^Really? That would be amazing if they even did the environmental cleanup and made a park there let alone an actual development.

Soil samples for future reference? It would be a great location for an eight to twelve story condo.
