I don't ski. But skiing is not the only reason to go to the mountains. You sound like a tourist even saying that. Peak traffic is mid-summer.

If you've never been to the mountains hiking, you do not belong here. Move to the coast.

I lived in Vail for 5 years, I'm well aware of hiking as an activity. Pretty sure I never said skiing was the only thing to do there. Also not sure peak traffic is mid summer. Are you just looking at vehicles through the tunnel? More people may drive individual cars through the tunnel though on the 4th of July. You've got a lot more flight activity into EGE and CME running shuttles up December-March.

I would be very surprised if sales tax revenues were not highest in December. The week of Christmas is the biggest week of the year for most businesses by far.

I taught in Montbello and there are many natives there, just as native as you, who have never been up to the mountains at all, to do anything, skiing or hiking.

It's worth noting that many around here are quite fond of Omaha. Mr. Manning comes to mind.

Says they're to break ground in the 1st quarter.

I also really like their project on Market Street but that won't break ground until the 4th quarter of next year. I wonder if that will qualify as SoMa?

You can never know for sure. But then I doubt he could state unequivocally.

My wife and I don't spend much time in the mountains We like Denver for Denver's own sake... Some combination of the weather, the airport (you can fly so many places in a short amount of time), and the city itself are what keep us here.

I remember (when living in LA) a news report that showed some non-profit group that took grade school kids from somewhere like Compton to the beach... because the kids had never been to the beach in their lives. Kids who grow up in poverty aren't able to get around much.

I've lived in Denver for 10 years now, and have been skiing 0 times. I've skied before, years ago, but at this point, it's just not worth the money to me. We go up into the mountains a couple times each summer, but that's about it. When you have a f/t job, kids, etc., you don't just take off every weekend to find some remote trail head.

There are generally three seasons in the Rockies.

Nothing more awesome than skiing down from the top of Ajax etc. While Christmas is a busy time, it's the middle of March that is usually the busiest.

Summer is the best. So much more to do and see. In the southern part of the state, there's a lot of Texas/oil money. A lot of fly fishing fans. The streams and lakes in the area between Durango and Pagosa Springs are wonderful whether you stay in a cabin or camp out. It's hard to beat Highway 82 as well and Independence Pass is a fave. But a few days in Rocky Mountain National Park provides such a variety of ecosystems.

Then there's the Fall Season. Not as busy but there's the hunters and those who wait until the kids are back in school to do their traveling. Turning of the Aspen leaves is always a treat. I've driven the Peak to Peak Highway a number of times.

Unequivocal statements just get a person in trouble. Or nominated to the Republican ticket. Either way, I prefer to keep on equivocating.

And here’s the best part: because the shuttles still ran on parallel streets, everybody still got to where they needed to go. There were no complaints about shuttle service. In fact, we found that a much larger number of pedestrian were now using the street.
That was in reference to those ‘Meet In The Street’ Sundays when they took the shuttles off of 16th Street.

New Troll and Tabor II?

Howdy, new troll here. Noticed a bunch of surveyors at Tabor II site the other day as I waited for the bus. Wouldn't that be a nice addition to the skyline.

Great. Now, what happens on a Monday when 45,000 people ride the MallRide?

Is there a practical reason this route couldnt be shifted to 15th/17th?

^Didn't we have a huge debate about this like 2 months ago? And people were saying why can't you just walk a block, who cares about the elderly / disabled, blah blah blah.

I recall this ridiculous conversation now...

There's a financial hit for RTD to move the shuttles off 16th Street FTA gives RTD a good chunk of change in fixed-guideway funding.
