1000 is my favourite part of the Montreal skyline. Maybe it's because it reminds me a bit of a certain part of myself...though a tad smaller due to that 200m height limit!

Cool angle, it makes those buildings look very tall.

Still, Calgary really needs to improve the streetscaping and public realm in this area. The area has urbanized and populated, but the sidewalks still maintain a low-rent, peripheral character.

Things like 13th Ave. and Memorial Park are very well done, but that should be the standard, and not the exception.
Absolutely. It's being worked on. The city is in the midst of rejuvenating all of the original 110+ year old railway underpasses first and then I think we'll see more of a street-by-street approach to urbanizing the pedestrian network. I do know that the reconstruction of 17th Avenue begins this winter. Sidewalks will be widened by over a foot, with new furniture and lighting. Should be a good change.

Yup, and it makes Tour des Canadiens look glorious. Unfortunately its south-facing facade is kind of sucky.

Where are you seeing all these cranes? I mean there's a coupe up, but not too many. It's no Halifax.

caltrane74 stares at his Toronto pics for too long, so the images of cranes are simply burnt into his computer monitor

Its funny how Edmonton and Calgary both appear to be the same (topography wise), with both of their downtowns facing a curved river and green space/trees between them...

Especially visible in that last Edmonton shot, almost mistook it for Calgary if I didn't realize there was no Bow or Calgary Tower
