No, that was a mistake previously. This rendering is not going next to the Holiday Inn.

Not if multiple buildings are being demolished. When the owners of the "Ginza" site were trying to shop it around for the CCH, I found out that they own half the block. I'm sure they would demolish the former Ferrari Color building.

Conrad Rosenthal still owns the Ginza (La Fountain) site. He owns none of the surrounding property or surface parking. Sort of a lone holdout and a different guy for sure. It's altogether possible the neighbors have an option or contract though. I nearly leased it from him and he wanted to go long term but that was two years ago.

Seriously, I knew someone would take that literally, which is why I put quotes around "Ginza." We're calling that corner the Ginza site because it's a landmark people remember. We're not referring to the actual owner of the former Ginza building.

Seriously, He wasn't correcting you on calling it "Ginza", he was simply referring to it as both Ginza and the new name (La Fountain). The point of his post is that the owner of the "Ginza" building doesn't own half the surrounding block. As mentioned Ginza is the lone hold out on that block, the remainder of that corner of the block is the same owner however.

So if as Makid said there will be demolition of one building, unless the developers is pursuing the former Ginza building and only the parking lot, and if the current owner is willing to sell just the parking lot, than it may not be the Ginza property that he is referring to.

Based on the parcels not yet being under the same ownership and demolition of one building it could be Ginza, if they the above scenario applies.

It could still be Zephyr, while yes all the property is technically owned by David Bernolfo, it's still two separate legal entities, which a simply search on the assessors site doesn't indicate that it's Bernolfo. So if Makid simply did a assessors search and not an entity search, that wouldn't have been revealed.

The parking lots and the small Fidelity building on S Temple and 300 W have different owners.

Here is the list that Makid stated the site was on, along with the criteria based on his information. Plus the fact that ownership hasn't been solidified by one entity yet.

Paid surface lots, one building demolition, N Temple - 400 S, Main-400 W. These are the ones I can think of, small ones and big ones.

Zephyr - Technically owned by Bernolfo, but under two different entities
Royal Wood Plaza - Not likely, as RWP owns the entire lot including both the NW and SE corners of the block. Based on the different ownership entities, they would either be acquiring parking lot space on 100 S, that has different ownership
SE corner S. Temple/3rd W, Fidelity bldg directly east of VSA, adjacent to the Radisson Hotel - Building has separate ownership from parking lots.
SW corner of 2nd/2nd, former Ginza. - Ginza building is owned separately from all the surrounding property which is one owner. So if only Ginza and the parking lot then it would meet the requirements, otherwise there are multiple buildings being torn down.
Mouse lounge NW corner 2nd W/4th S. - Not likely as the Mouse Lounge building and parking lot surrounding it have the same ownership entity.
Zions lot, demo of Dinwoody - All the same ownership

So without telling us where, we know it's one of two locations.

Makid said, "at least one building," so it could be more than one building.

Please build this in SLC. Or something really close.

A few of us commented on how much we liked that base, and corner, and how well it would fit on the north site of West Temple. I do wonder though about the opposite glass side of the tower. Probably, it would be a fairly significant wall of windows. It would be best if they gave it some character on that wall in the same manner as the design which would face west temple. In a perfect world of course, it would also be another 10 or more floors taller.

One side of that tower looks nice. But I was thinking the same thing, that the orther side might just be a wall. I would rather have somethingike the new tallest in Califas, which is a hotel they are building in Downtown LA.

I think the east side (the image is viewed from the NE, with Key Tower directly south) of that tower looks nice, yes it is a wall, but it appears that there is plenty of features breaking up the wall, including different roof heights, the angled break that runs from S to N up to the open balcony, and the set back from the northern portion to the southern portion.

I actually think this placement would look fantastic on the southern site, with this same angle being the view from the SW corner of 200 S and W. Temple, right outside of Olive Garden.

If it's on the south end as FM described. I would like that

I reached out to some contacts in Cleveland to find out what developer was building their convention center hotel, hoping that the same developer may be throwing their hat in the ring for the SP CCH.

Apparently the County, which also operates the Convention Center, is actually the developer and Hilton will operate it.

Not sure that would ever fly around here as it was hard enough to get TIFF past the likes of Grand America, imagine if the county or city actually tried to build it.

A note was added to the CCH's RFP:
Quote:
Pre-proposal conference will be on November 4 beginning at 2:00 pm. Meet in Room 255A at the Salt Palace Convention Center for the business meeting and then tour of the facility.

To attend the meeting though, you needed to have pre-registered by stating that you are interested in submitting a proposal.

I know that there has been interest already but the exact count is going up each day and I don't want to state a number as it will be proven incorrect.

I can say that the count was over 15 as of last week.

Now if more than 1 submit a proposal, I think we will be really good. I would love to see 4 or more proposals submitted personally.

Sad day. It looks like Biskupski is the new mayor. I predict 4-8 years of stagnation as a city, like we had under Rocky.

I'm a Becker proponent, but I can't imagine that Biskupski would be any where near as divisive as Rocky.

Well, it looks like the Regent Hotel is officially set for construction:

New Regent Street Hotel planned for downtown Salt Lake
