Would the "Running Green Man" exits not have been required by this point? Still seems to have the old red and white "EXIT" signs.

I believe it's an ivy or some other climbing plant. Looks like they intend to have a green wall there. Here's a pic from a couple of months ago.

I may or may not agree with you, but when built in 1968 (?) the Guinness building was sort of a "Grade B" version of a building of the International Style. It has many of the overt features, and the dark stone shows good
material used, but everyone here seem to dislike spandrel, and there's loads of green-gray spandrel on this one. Plis, IMO, the overall 'look' just doesn't make it. Montreal, and of course New York, have several superb, classic International style buildings. But Guinnes IMO doesn't quite warrant being in that category.

(international style, even Ottawa.)

Not to be nasty about it, but for me, it's a shame it made it in there. Super-difficult to replace. I'm not sentimental about the Guinness Tower either. And as CH said it is "damned ugly."

For instance, I think a 180-190m tower in place of the Guinness building would make for a fantastic stepped skyline effect. Both from Coal harbour in to the downtown, and from the Marine building up........

You can see what I mean from the second photo officedweller shared above
Yes, a "hidden gem" it will always be, and we can build higher around it without ever diminishing its grace and elegance.

Now, start conceptualising replacement of the Guinness tower for something taller. I still think the step-up effect would be fantastic if a Guinness replacement is designed as tastefully as the MNP was.
I'd love to see that too, but, whew, that's a tall order requiring maximum savvy and finesse.

Yay - I just sold few of my MNP Tower photos to Oxford Properties! Seems that they have been lurking this forum and liked what they saw.

I am always happy to see some photographs go to a real use and me also getting something small out of all the effort that goes to the photography in here. Please continue to be in touch if you like what you see, folks.

Too bad Oxford has killed the lights on the Marine Building; it has been invisible at night for years now. It would be so nice to see it illuminated against the MNP Tower. Would make a lovely vista down Hastings Street.

What!!?? The marine Building is black at night? Not even the roof or cornices lit up. Oxford Properties are doing themselves a disservice by doing that
(unless they're trying to save $$ on their hydro bill). Think how a Marine Building, lit up, would enhance the night view of the MNP.

What are you talking about? I have been here only a few years, but I am pretty sure I have seen Marine Building illuminates many times.

What a relief!! Living overseas contributes to my unawareness of these things.

Congratulations! That's great, tangible recognition for the quality of work you produce.

Good job! You deserve that. Should give you some incentive to post even more photos.

Some shots today of the sign at the main entrance on West Hastings Street and then the north end of the ground floor (at West Cordova Street) now that it's finished. I really like this plaza area. Sleek, simple and classy.
