The Westjet domestic increases are pretty substantial at YYC.

There will be approximately 659 weekly domestic departures (445 mainline, 214 Encore)
Last winter there were ~ 564 weekly flights (418 mainline, 146 Encore)

The following cities are seeing at least one additional flight per day:

YBR, YEG (up 3 per day), YMM, YQU (mainline is back), YLW, YYF, YXE, YXT (new this winter), YYZ and YZF (now year-round).

So overall (domestic, transborder and international), YYC will see about 114 daily departures (83 mainline and 31 Encore). This is up from 98 last winter (77 mainline, 21 Encore).

Perhaps also getting ready for some potential LCC competition.....

Edit: had to change the numbers up another 7 weekly... for some reason the new daily YZF was missed.

so with all of this Air China Cargo business, and all that cross holding between Air China and Cathay. Looks like Cathay Cargo will be competing with themselves in Alberta?

I'm thinking of 2 scenarios, either that Cathay is pretty pissed that Air China Cargo's flying YEG, or that the two entities communicated and decided that there is a market for both. Hopefully it's the second one.

Like my brother in the terminal said, the job is pretty mundane now day-to-day. We routinely run out of Westjet gates to use. I hope they have a plan or schedule accordingly.

Hey, if you're bored, it's because the system works. That's a good thing.

Besides, from what i hear, some of your peeps still need to perfect their skills with them parallels

not my words, but someone who came and saw for himself. That's generally the case when an airspace, or in this case, a runway, comes to a controller and not the other way around. We have some below par peeps as well in one of our new sub-units here in YUL.

It's always the same thing. When a controller/trainee goes to an airspace, he needs proper training. When the airspace comes to the controller, 2 weeks and he should be checked-out !
