Ya, no kidding! And that Eden Care facility would be a good-sized residential development as well.

Kuntz Automotive (I can't help but smirk everytime I say it) is one of the last remaining 1960's Shell stations in town with that classic mid-century design so it's really tough for me to say knock it down, but you're absolutely right. An injection of people there, in the form of a condo or otherwise, would really help liven up a dead corner. The building has not been kept up well by the Kuntz's and it's just become an eye sore.

Bigger dream that would never happen - Agree to buy out the lease on the land from 7-11, build the condo so that it covers the block end to end and then offer 7-11 prime realty within the condo's main floor business area.

6 storeys might be a bit high for that neighbourhood, but I agree with the general idea (condos+ ground-floor retail).

Zion United had their last service about ten days ago. The sale has already gone through. It will be demolished in August to make room for Eden Care.

ETA: According to twitter, Regina will be getting a GlowJuicery, but not sure where.

From a quick peek at their current locations, my guess is that they'll be in with the Chopped Leaf on Scarth Street. Just purely a guess though.

That is what it'll be since they could't add a basement.

Superstore East renders:

So that looks to be: Scotia Bank, TD Bank, Canadian Brewhouse, Mr. Mike's, Swiss Chalet, Harvey's. The brew house is interesting because they are proposing a rooftop patio.

Douglas Park Sports Park

I was at Leibel Field tonight and noticed a new structure going up, anyone know what this is?

Leibel Field is a great pitch to play on as well:

The Catholic school division has chosen the names for "their half" of the new joint-use schools being built in Regina.

They will be known as St. Elizabeth in the Greens on Gardiner subdivision, St. Kateri Tekakwitha in Harbour Landing and St. Nicholas in Skywood.

The Public school division hasn't begun choosing names for the public side of the schools yet.

New Change rooms for Leibel Field. Hopefully they are ready for the RMF season that starts mid August.

It's not going to happen, but I'd really love for the U of R to use Leibel Field as their stadium for football etc. Close proximity/walking distance from the main campus...

Yeah it's definitely odd that the U of R insists on upgrading and maintaining their own field on campus when they have such a premium field only minutes away.

Although, Leibel is a premium minor league field, it is definitely not premium for CIS standards. Do get me wrong, I love Leibel for RMF and High School, but not for anything above that.

The viewing angles for coaches in the press box are terrible. The viewing angle for film aren't ideal. There isn't enough seating capacity for a CIS game. Player benches are on the same side of the field because the stands aren't high enough.

Also, it's not entirely the UofR that is upgrading or maintaining the Rams Field. The majority of the money comes from the Rams itself through fundraising.

^The Rams don't use their facility at the uni for any CIS games though, those are all at Mosaic; your other points stand however.

Obviously they don't use their facilities for games. I was making points on why Leibel wasn't good for their games. The Rams field would be way worse for a game than Leibel. There was a game there many year ago because Taylor Field was booked for the Rolling Stones. It was awful!

The U of R turf needs replacing. It's in bad shape.

Does anyone have a link to the plans for the widening of Victoria Avenue after they replace the pilot butte creek bridges? This news story just shows a quick glance of the plan: http://regina.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=629586

I did a search of the regina.ca site and was only able to find this quote in reference to the widening of Vic avenue:

"2007-2009: Victoria Avenue widening In 2007, the plan to widen Victoria Avenue from Fleet Street to the City Limits will be confirmed, with reconstruction to begin in 2009."

I was also able to find the city's road network plan (dated 2007) which shows the old Regina Bypass layout as the city's current road network plan.

Bravo City of Regina.....Bravo.

I was out in the east end shopping jungle last night - Mark's work warehouse just north of Canadian Tire has closed - apparently moving all their stuff to their new spot in Vic Square along with Jysk.
