The proposed facility site is 12 miles north of Earl Grey.

They are spending millions on soft cost but remember these mines cost $4 billion plus. That is a big nut to crack. Don't get your hopes up until you hear about financing being in place.

There is a bit of a street level renaissance going on on the 18 and 19 blocks of Hamilton. On 18 you have the recent additions of NWL in a formerly abandoned space turned into a high end store. Also Shoppes on Hamilton (first photo) should be complete this year. On 19 Block you have the recent additions of Victorias, Flip and now this Eyewear store. The last 2 were formerly blank walls that were opened up

Is the second building (looks like the eye wear store) the same as the building that Oliver's opened up in?

The ground section of the agriculture place retail looks amazing!!!

Hopefully more properties downtown are going to notice the advantages of having street front retail and open up more space. What is happening on Hamilton is amazing and crossing my fingers in hoping it will spread to other unused and under-utilized sections of downtown.

Unfortunately the 17 Block of Hamilton is another story with RBC turning their whole Hamilton street frontage into offices. It used to be a transparent glass lobby. Now it is a blank opaque glass wall. Also, of course, there is the recent demo of the Black Building that housed several stores. That is supposed to be eventually replaced by a building with ground floor retail, but who know when that will happen.

I noticed the hair salon next to Hill Ave Drugs in the Hill Ave mall is gone and has been replaced with Hill Caffe, a coffee shop with a outdoor patio area. Definitely something that little outdoor mall needed. Increases the foot traffic and will look better as you drive by.

Wishful thinking: Now they need some patio seating outside of Houston Pizza. Something O'Hanlon's -ish.

Reading through the 2015 City office review and something interesting jumped out at me. The city is expecting 200,000 m^2 of new office space be built in Regina in the next twenty years. That's 2,150,000 sq.ft or about ten more Mosaic towers.

Not sure the coffee shop is long for this world... I have a friend who lives near by, she's been there three times & her best comment about it is "I really, really want to like it... it's walkable, it's local, but..."

Apparently the coffee is mediocre, the food isn't great, and they only take cash. After someone at a neighbouring business spoke positively about the coffee shop, she asked what the best food or drink there is... there was an awkward silence (and not because the options were too plentiful).

I agree though - this section would be nice with a bit of a patio scene to bring it more to life.

Eden Care has made a formal proposal to Regina Public School Board to also incorporate a new Imperial School and McDerrmid School replacement into the complex

Eden Care owns Regina Lutheran Home which is located on 5th Ave North between Hamilton and Broad. I'm assuming this would replace that facility and they would also buy out the Zion United Church.

I thought the coffee was passable. I had an iced caramel macchiato and it was good. I wonder if they didn't rush their opening without really being ready. I also heard that they are trying to get a liquor license so the real end game might be different than what it is right now. I'm hopeful they make a go of it and it works because it's a fun little strip. We've got a good staple of what seem like stable businesses. I wonder if Pearl River would be open to getting a few tables for outside because s few appetizers and a beverage would be a fun option for the neighborhood as well.

The big sky dreamer in me would have Kunitz' move out (I do love their stone and pitched roof building) and have a six-story condo with another food commercial option and a couple of more small stores in the main level. That would really make that block lively and be a boon to the residents. It would be a little main street which few neighborhoods in Regina have.

Kunitz for sure needs to go! That section is gross and has needed a redevelopment for a long time.

Well if that Rose St development ever takes off, that would cover basically a quarter of the expected total.
