I know people who don't buy groceries at Superstore or Walmart because they're too big. A Shoppers is a place you can just pop into.

Exactly. Look at Grasslands: There's a London Drugs directly next to Walmart. They sell a lot of identical items, but they're very different in their focus and clientele.

I think a Shoppers along Rochdale makes a lot of sense.

The only difference is that Superstore owns Shoppers. Seems redundant to me...especially since Superstore already has a pharmacy.

Different areas of Rochdale though. The Pasqua and Rochdale one will be the best position though; 2 major roads and right in from the highway.

Being the same company will cannibalize customers a bit, but alternative groups (e.g. Walmart vs London Drugs), you lose the business entirely, so it's not lost business like the other way. There will also be some efficiencies gained by both being in the same group too though.

Question about the Shoppers though... Is it a 2-storey? Or offices up top?

Single story. Nothing there will be two story. Tall, yes, but not two story.

There are stairs and what looks to be an elevator shaft In place.....looks like two floors to me.

I thought it was an elevator shaft too, but I someone else said it was a tower. So unless the design has changed recently it shouldn't be.

I just drove by. Definately two staircases leading up to a second floor and a concrete block shaft is in place.

I will have to double check that because I said the same thing but was told they weren't doing two stories. They must be working off older info.

The Shopper's at Rochdale has a light duty elevator for people or small freight. There will be offices and a staff room upstairs.

Lots of activity at the Golden Mile now. They've ripped out a good portion of the entrance in the SouthWest corner.

Anyone know anything about the electronic message board placed in the boulevard between Albert Street South and the West Service Road? Across from Bonzini's. Is this the city's or an advertising board?

Yesterday on NewsTalk 980, there was mention of a Chinese potash company that wanted to construct a mine midway between Regina and Southey. Can someone else corroborate this? Thanks.

I don't think corroborate, but I believe YanCoal is the company and Saskatchewan and the Southey area are listed as one of the project sites. This would appear to be just North of Southey. Maybe this is newer information?
