As a Vancouverite, it's hard for me to imagine a tract of land of that size, that close to downtown on a transit line being empty, but it's probably empty for a reason.

Come to think of it, we still have a few of our own, but they all have enormous proposals (hospitals or masterplanned neighbourhoods) slated for them.
They've had plans since about 2006 I think. Problem is the Stampede board is incredibly dysfunctional, you know what they say about committees. Anything the Stampede proposes is inevitably hideous though so I can't say I'm too disappointed. I think after East Village gets developed this is the next big area to be revitalized.

Edmonton seems set to get seriously transformed, but for now it's a rather awkward balance with all those strip malls downtown.

Where is the stampede going to go if they decide to develop the stampede grounds?

I agree with this, not the best angle of the Toronto skyline. Lots more highrise density could be used in the Yorkville-Rosedale area as well as Yonge-Eglinton and Yonge-St.Clair. From the lake to Yonge-Eglinton if this could be a solid block of skyscrapers (along Yonge?) it would be the longest skyline in North America.

Thanks for those great Edmonton shots!

It's really nice to see all those downtown parking lots disappear.

It really plays up the city-within-a-forest look though. Toronto gets criticized for lack of green but it really has a lot more than people think.

Nice first post. And what pictures? The three on this page are pretty self explanatory with or without a caption/

In case you're not kidding, FYI the user's location nearly always gives it away. For example if we look at this page only, usually it's the city itself (Coldrsx, SkahHigh) or else it's close, i.e. the picture of a mysterious, unknown metropolis posted by the guy from Cobourg, Ontario is Toronto; the picture of a mysterious, unknown metropolis posted by the guy from Coquitlam, BC is Vancouver.

People here extremely rarely post pics of a city that's not theirs without those pics being accompanied by at least a tiny bit of an explanation (like "here's an awesome aerial of [major Canadian city far away from where I'm from] that I just found online")

That's a bit of a hyperbole, isn't it?

They might be equally as bad as Hitler, or maybe a bit less bad than Hitler, considering what Hitler did to the Jews...but not worse than Hitler. Not many things are worse than Hitler.

Now, if you'd said they were worse than Goebbels, you might have had a point.
