That's unfortunate, they did talk about this being the case earlier when this proposal was initially announced. It will make the pre-sales of units that much more difficult without larger investors involved.

Fortune has nothing to do with it. Obviously nobody who knows how to run a company well enough to be running a company is going to make any material investment in a group of junk bond salesmen who lie and have a terrible track record of never delivering on their promises. Far from unfortunate, we are fortunate that our companies have management that isn't entirely brain dead.

Thank goodness. While it ought to be clear that you are joking, there's plenty of people around here who are ready to believe that Fortress has 300 tenants lined up. All they have to do is hint at it in a tweet or call it into the WFP as an 'insider tip' and some people consider it a fact.

I think you read too much into when others share tweets and news articles that they come across.

Nope. Cyro has never seen a WFP article or Fortress tweet that he doesn't have 100% faith in. On the bright side, his comment above, #481, recognizes for the first time that what Fortress said (lots of major tenants) and reality (no tenants) are not congruent. Perhaps he will one day take the giant leap of realizing that Fortress flat-out lied.

Looks like fortress has found a grocery tenant, filled all the other retail spaces, and sold every single one of the units! Construction will start immediately! Hooray!

Maybe I'm reading into the tweet too much?

I see that local Landscape Architects Scatliff+Miller+Murray has been added to the SkyCity design team. They are a great firm, good for them.

I'm hoping that once SCC is completed that the Regis and the Garrick Hotels will close down, be expropriated, be demo'd by Imrie, and turn into something better than they are.

That render resembles a tower in Chicago ... 62 storeys that make 340 on the Park, which is one of the major residential skyscrapers seen from Millennium Park.

Nice job updating the data base, with your new rendering.
Surprising it's height looks so close to that of the CanWest building when placed side by side, (- the pentice.) office space vs. residential units accounting for the discrepancy.
Well done.....

^ I definitely notice the changed vibe around the Garrick. But I thought the Regis stopped being a problem when they shut down the beverage room in there?

It'll be interesting to see (although this is just speculation) if The Pint's owners look at buying the Garrick Hotel when they're ready to do another concept. That would be so cool.

They said they're looking to open a few more over the next few years and like their locations to be close. Also, they have really deep pockets.

I'm no expert on the matter but I would have to think that a well-established firm like Scatliff wouldn't get involved if they didn't think this project had some legs...?

Re the newsletter -- I'm not super impressed that (1) they don't know how to spell Garry Street and (2) they don't know which corner they're on (not the south-east!)
