Go to Urban Fare at any time of day. They've added more checkouts recently, they are constantly busy. Choices is also very busy. Two supermarkets within 2-3 blocks of each other, just like Safeway and No Frills in the west end.

You speak like somebody who never visits the area and only has a vague understanding. Yet you spout your nonsense like fact.

Yes, the supermarkets around Yaletown always seem busy. To add to that, there may be a new H-Mart going in very close to Yaletown Park. I'll post here if I find out any more details.

Some people like malls, some people hate them. The sort of people that shop at Canadian SuperStore don't shop on Main street. They're entirely different markets that have no real relationship to one another.

You should take your own advice regarding facts. I know tons of people who do in fact visit both Main Street and Superstore.

Also the new BC's Best Coffee is now open at the Maddox podium.

New retailers confirmed for June 17 Pacific Centre launch

Retailers Abercrombie & Fitch and U.K.-based AllSaints will be part of about a dozen merchants that will locate under the future Nordstrom at Pacific Centre, Business in Vancouver confirmed April 15.

The expansion is set to open to the public on June 17.

Bloggers had written that technology giant Apple Corp. (Nasdaq:AAPL) would relocate from its current Pacific Centre location and take space in under the future Nordstrom.

This will not happen, said Tom Knoepfel, who is senior vice-president and portfolio manager at the mall’s owner, Cadillac Fairview.

“Apple is not going in,” he told BIV. “Apple is not taking a location in that expansion area.”

BIV previously reported that future tenants for that space will also include the following nine:

•B2;
•Hugo Boss;
•Kate Spade;
•Microsoft;
•Pandora;
•Rockport;
•Ted Baker London;
•Tumi; and
•Weekend Max Mara.

All of those tenants will be open for the June 17 launch except for Microsoft and Abercrombie & Fitch.

Two spaces remain unfilled.

One is a 4,000-square-foot unit that is extremely close to having a tenant confirmed. The other is a 7,500-square-foot space that is of interest to an “aspirational” clothing retailer who does not yet have any locations in Metro Vancouver, Knoepfel said.

“That deal is definitely not done yet,” he said. “If it doesn’t get done, we’ve got three other retailers who we could break up the space for and then lease it to each of them.”

The June 17 launch will also provide more options for how to get out of the Granville Street Canada Line station.

Currently, transit users can take an exit to go into Pacific Centre but they have to walk north. As of June 17, those people will be able to exit into Pacific Centre and walk south to escalators that will take them up to the corner of Robson and Granville streets, Knoepfel said.

Uhhh, you mean just like you could do when Sears was open?

... and with Sears, you'd go up the escalators into the store and could turn EITHER to Granville OR to Howe.
The new mall connection just leads to Granville.

It's not clear if there will be escalators from the mall to Nordstrom (I don't think so - just elevators).
So getting to Howe & Robson from the mall will be harder than with Sears.

Abercrombie & Fitch is dying, seems an odd choice, I'm excited about All Saints tho, just picked up some great clothes from one of their Vegas stores, should be a huge hit here!

Also glad to hear about Apple, this perhaps means a street level flagship with far more impact than an underground mall space, I'm still gunning for the former Granville 7 Cinema space.

Walking through Sears is a bit awkward, especially for people not familiar with the mall. A real path through is nice.

Yeah but that's not an issue anymore.

At Bellevue Square I always seem to end up parking on the far side of Nordstrom and it's a bit weird to walk through there to get to the mall. Not a huge deal but not preferable.

I meant in the middle of the mall up into Nordstrom. I don't think there will be. Not sure though.
I think Nordstrom will have very little presence in the mall.

Here's a pic of the main floor escalator in Nordstrom. It doesn't seem to go down to the mall level like the Eaton's/Sears escalators did.
I suppose there could have been an issue with shoplifting if they did have them.

Looks like it will be Aritzia's largest Canadian location and only the Soho location in NYC will be larger.

I just spoke with the Deecorp's VP (landlord for the Robson corner) and he says they have no immediate demolition plans for that corner, though they may consider it eventually if the "right" offer comes along. He says they could do three stories max but it would have to make economic sense. So for the time being, it's a massive Aritzia with Red Robin upstairs.

Mind you, not all of Asia love A&F, but mostly "neo-colonies" of the U.S. like Taiwan, S. Korea, the Philippines and perhaps Japan and bits of China. Pretty sure the rest of Asia don't really give a damn. Same deal with American Eagle and Hollister.

No escalator access at all to the mall from Nordstrom, a saw the entire stretch of the new mall extension when the construction doors were open last week. Seems a bit odd not to have direct access.

Amazing news for Robson!! Will certainly help the ailing 1100 block. I assume they'll completely change and update the facade as well.
