Ah, thank you. I am not familiar with the area and didn't notice from the ground level that there would be rooftop parking. I didn't even see any stairs going up from the inside, but maybe I am blind. I will definitely pay it a visit in the future.

Regarding the number of floors, 55 might be true. Aren't the first two towers advertised as 60-something with fake floor numbering?

let me get this correct. Second phase of construction is call Phase lll. Whereas the third phase of construction is actually Phase ll.
Then are they going to name the 2 buildings on Phase lll Brentwood 3 and Brentwood 4?
Am I the only one who is confused?

By which I mean to say, thanks for all the pictures. Dave and Klazu both. I was up there a few months ago and it's nice to see how things have progressed since then.

Hmm, I've been Dave2 on the internet for nearly 20 years =:o

Photos I took on March 26

Bosa Developments should probably purchase the General Motors dealership site across the street and quickly complete this area's transformation

Not much information about the retail side of this project I noticed, lots of rumours going around. Target obviously wont be part of the project now, who could take the large commercial anchor space under construction as per plans? I also heard about a Cinema? everything seems to be top secret for some reason.

Wondering since all the recent store closures what chains will commit to opening new places especially with Metrotown not that far away.

There have been tantalizing clues about a multi-screen complex, but I don't recall an official announcement. Some of their promotional material mentions it but I don't know how official that is. The curved building on the west side of the civic plaza (the building with the coloured roof in the renderings and sales centre model) certainly seems like it is designed for that.

I went into the presentation centre recently, they were only concerned about selling condos. Nobody seemed to know much about the commercial side of things. From what I can see now the mall is starting to fail, so many empty stores and the ones that are there are pretty dead and/or dated. Seniors seem to be the mainstream in the centre and they don't really buy much. Not even the retailers know anything about the commercial tenants.

They were mum on a theater for quite some time but recently they have started talking about it being there again. I guess they were in negotiations with Cineplex?

Sears is really dead there. The mall has no destination stores or anything else really. Its very hard to access and park as well. I don't know what management is doing in terms of this. Not even a restaurant in the mall anymore either or any decent clothing stores. I live in the area and most people don't even shop there anymore aside from London Drugs and the few service oriented places, that's about it.

Well that is the risk they decided to take with such a comprehensive change to the whole site. The addition of residential, addition of a significant amount of additional retail/commercial area. It's a total rebranding of the Brentwood Mall. I think that is why they are on such a mission to try and build out as much as they can and quickly.
I wish them luck, the only thing that will increase business is the finished product. there will be a lot of residents in the area glad to have easy access to services.

I have thought for a while that Shape is probably giving the retailers a huge discount on rent in order to keep them. But no matter how low it is, they still have to have some business to survive.

Many of the retailers closed due to the company shutting down etc, not because of the mall. Some have left the centre and or relocated. Just curious if Sears is planning to stay and what will be replacing Zellers that is mostly vacant.

Sears typically owns their own RE. Is this the case for the Brentwood Mall property?

If so, how does that fit into the Brentwood redevelopment?

Or is this a moot point, because Shape also owns the Sears building/land?

Was in the mall yesterday. Pretty quiet and more stores are closing down I noticed. Was talking to some employees, they said business has been pretty bad and they don't know of any new retailers planning to open. London Drugs and Starbucks were busy but that's about it. Shape is keeping everyone in the dark of what's happening. Mall access is really bad which doesn't help either.

First I have heard of this. The plans I saw show some reconfigured box store space. That is a big void for the mall not having an anchor at that end.

Reminder of the still current leasing plans from Shape's website:

PS - the last plans says "Bridge to Plaza and Cinema"

BTW - anyone know where the residents' parking will be?

It's a bit unfortunate that the back of the plaza will have an entrance to the parkade on one side.
