That looks like a huge open mining operation / quarry. And it is all for cars. Loads of cars.

Not quite.

The leaseplans shown the department store will have an underground level - with high ceiling.

BTW - anyone know where the residents' parking will be?

It's a bit unfortunate that the back of the plaza will have an entrance to the parkade on one side.

How far underground is this development going? The retail info above shows what I assume is only retail parking, the residential would be under that, but how many levels down from grade?

I drove by the other day. This is the biggest construction site right now (I think). Easily one of the biggest hole being constructed

Any news as to when Concord Pacific will start the construction of an elementary school and public park on Dragonwood's Industrial Park?

I think you are jumping the gun on that one. They are still in the design stages. You can be sure there will be nothing on the school or park until the project gets overall rezoning and then phase I is ready to commence. nothing will start until the developer has some certainty on his over all project

it depends whether Concord Pacific application for rezoning application is approved or not. The site is designated for a school and a park. With the Brentwood Park school already over capacity, the is some pressure for council to approve the rezoning.
Quote an article by wanda Chow "The site is designated for a park' for both active and passive recreation...improved naturalized riparian corridor for Stickleback Creek" Hope this will happen soon because Brentwood need a outdoor park badly.

Yes its part of the water treatment. So no silt etc enters the storm sewers

They will have 4,700 parking stalls available for shoppers... Meanwhile Metrotown has 8,000 parking stalls according to its website!

I am always amazed how Metrotown achieves those numbers with only two levels of parking. It's a huge area for sure.
