A member on CPTDB also mentioned back in January that these new 400 series cars are slated to arrive around August o.O

The new 400 series cars are expected to arrive by in or around August. Talked to someone who works at OMC.

INNOVIA Metro 300 system at a glance

-One- to six-car trains
-Headway flexibility (as short as 75 seconds)
-Up to 51,000 passengers per hour per direction (six-car configuration)
-Three carbody width options for greater versatility
-Choice of our highly reliable conventional rotary propulsion or proven linear induction motor (LIM)
-Our industry-leading CITYFLO 650 automatic train control (ATC) technology for efficient driverless operation
I'm assuming the carbody widths as to do with their overlap with the Monorail and APM, since those vehicles tend to be wider.

I expect they will start arriving early in 2016 and be tested on the Evergreen extension before it opens.

Once Evergreen opens and Expo and Millennium lines are separate operations, I wouldn't be surprised to see the MkIII trains on the King George - Waterfront runs to free up MkI and MkII cars for VCC - Lafarge Lake service.
I'm sure I was told quite specifically some time ago that the refurbished MkI cars would run on the Evergreen line, and the new MkIII trains would go on Expo. Probably a calculation of ridership and train capacity. Cannot find any definite confirmation in the limited time available for searching right now.

That would certainly be the most logical thing to do

Yeah. What was being discussed was the new 4 car MkIII on the Expo line, and the new Millennium/Evergreen line would use 4 car MkI and 2 car MkII, with an increase in frequency to compensate for the reduction in train length.

Wouldn't be surprised. The first Mark III deliveries to Kuala Lumpur (Kelana Jaya Line extension) are actually happening within the year.

I thought that was odd too, when I saw the renderings, but I suppose that orients the e trance to the neighbourhood,
not the mall (although the mall is paying for some of the station).

Are we sure that the 400 series / Mark III trainsets are going to be 4 cars instead of 2 cars?

They've started installing the banner/cabling along the Lougheed side platform. They also have brackets for where the LED signs and TV screens will go.

Is the panel covered in blue protective wrapping the station name panel? It's half the size of the Millennium line stations.

Yes, it will extend the entire length of the platform and looks to be the same size as the one that extends down the centre of the existing platform.

That's what I was wondering, too. It might be adjusted (2 cars or 4 cars) to the time of day and ridership.

Safer and more direct pedestrian connections to Coquitlam Centre and the condo towers/shops along High Street and Glen Drive, which is quickly becoming the focus of the City Centre neighbourhood.

There is a reason why Northern Avenue has ultra wide sidewalks.

It's possible that the mall operators and the transit designers wanted heavy pedestrian traffic separated from the busy vehicle access point at Lincoln Ave. Also, the configuration as built gives the possibility of a passenger drop-off near the man station entrance, though I don't know if I've seen that in renderings or plans.

The new MkIII trains will be configured as "married quads" of four cars (A-C-C-B). They can't be separated into 2-car or 3-car trains.

I can see the new MkIII trains being used on the Waterfront - King George runs - especially while under warranty so anything that breaks is fixed by Bombardier.

Even with these 7 new train sets, Translink will still need the MkI and MkII train sets to handle the passenger volumes on the Expo line - especially during the rush hours. While the new MkIII trains are in constant use to be 'broken in', the MkI and MkII train sets can be added/dropped to handle the changes in passenger volumes over the day.

The MK I's are probably best used during the Winter/spring/fall as they lack air conditioning and that is really the only reason to avoid them. The MK II's and the Innovia Metro 300's (MK III) are best used during summer. It certainly does cost more to operate the A/C-equipped models, but it's still preferable to have A/C than not.

Though I do wish the windows on the all the trains except the MK I's were permanently closed while the train is moving.

Will the ceiling of the station be covered with something or will it be left to look like a tin shed?

Have you seen the ceiling of the existing platforms? It matches damn close:
