Just gorgeous in Victoria again. Currently up to 14 in the sunshine at 11am. Got hot working in the yard this morning LOL...

High of 13 to 15 forecast for today. Made it up to 14 officially yesterday too (13.6). Tomorrow same thing

Another gorgeous day here. Hit 13 yesterday, five of the next seven days forecast in the double digits, including a high of 17 on Monday. Currently 7 degrees at noon.

March thus far has indeed been our coldest month of the year.

Average high: -1.1C
Average low: -11.9C

Warmest daily high thus far: 3.7C (March 4)
Lowest daily high thus far: -10.0C (March 76) - again, our only day the whole winter with a double digit high below freezing.

Today it's been around -5C, which is also pretty cool as a daily high for us.

And there's no relief in sight. This is a worse forecast that we've had all winter...

Compared to the highs we actually had in February, traditionally our coldest month:

Gaahhh...

As of 4 p.m. NT:

The "official" temperatures we've had in BC don't suggest t-shirt weather, but it has sure felt like t-shirt weather lately. Today was yet another beauty. My car had 17 degrees around noon.

The first rainfall in a while is coming, but for the most part the forecast is looking great:

It is absolutely, beautiful here today on the west coast. Lots of guys walking around without shirts. I saw a couple of little girls wearing swim wear jumping over the sprinkler and laughing in there front yard. It is like we went from fall to spring without a winter this year.
Sunglasses required today for sure.

Winter cycling on a road bike is terrific fun when it's not -15. Problem was, this past February it was -15.

But tonight it was -2 and practically wind-free. So I went out. A night ride through the quiet countryside with the ghostly snow lit up by the moon is a special experience.

Crappy cell phone pics:

I've been off the road bike (and on the mountain bike) since late December. That's a two-and-a-half month winter hiatus. I consider that close to normal for road cycling for around here, except that in more average years you would still be doing sporadic rides during January and February when the temps aren't crazy and the roads are dry.

Last year was cold as hell, and this past February was record-breaking, but duration-wise things are kinda normal.

I, for one, welcome our new March overlords.

Spring is here & Summer temps not far away..

..with Maple Creek, SK 2 week forecast above freezing for both day time high and night time low (except for -1 tomorrow night) .. looks like a great weekend to do some spring cleaning/car washing etc..

Temps up to +20ºC later this week, and of course sunny.. looks like good time to pull my golf clubs out and plan to hit some balls next weekend.

Yes Western Canada is in the midst of one of the most profound above average trends ever. March will end up being the 4th month in a row of extremely above normal temps. Hope you guys are enjoying it!

Meanwhile out east here we are continuing to freeze our asses off. Most of Ontario has over 20cm of snow on the ground still (many areas in the 40-60cm range). After coming off the coldest month in 150 years, things are still below freezing however this coming week looks better. Nothing close to what you guys are seeing in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and BC.... but never the less, a solid stretch of ABOVE 0c temps. Can't believe Im saying that.

Actually in BC December and January were within the realm of normal conditions (especially December). February was spectacular though. The first 4 or 5 days of March were actually slightly below seasonal.

Decent stretches of mid teen temps in BC in March is far from out of the ordinary.

I was not talking about BC specifically. Alberta more so has had a very abnormal stretch of above normal temps starting in December. Many days 10C or more above normal. But BC over the past few months has been above seasonal for the most part. If you look at the temperature trends Western Canada has been plastered in red, where the east has been blue (and purple) LOL.

Alberta usually has such massive swings in temperatures during these trends, a warm year and a cold year are two completely different places. Always interesting to watch.

Will the warm (dry?) weather out in Alberta and Saskatchewan have much impact on agriculture this year?
