Someone saying one nice thing about the skyline of a city that you have a bias against doesn't have to start an argument. Many people feel differently about many other people's opinions on here too. This guy is a new forumer and doesn't know any better.
He's from Toronto, just sayin.

I have no bias against Calgary, once again, even though you always seem to think otherwise. And of course, you'll defend him when he says Calgary has one of the best skylines in North America since you're so fond of your hometown. Take off your pink glasses, Calgary's skyline is far from ugly but also far from being one of the best in the continent, I think most people will agree here. And I'm not even including Montreal in that group, so it's not homerism.

According to your opinion, yes. Although you seem to completely ignore the existence of Montreal... Have you ever been? My guess is no...

Buddy, just let it go. Otherwise you will get a group of idiots who won't be able to let go of what you're saying now, two years down the road, still berating you for it in 2017.

There's no way to convince anyone who's made up their mind and no point trying. Many people do agree with you on here, but many others would argue to the death about how incorrect your personal opinion is.

Many people disagree too, but let's not mention that eh Chad? Thanks for calling some of us idiots by the way, always appreciated.

I think if Canada could be renamed Calgary you'd vote for it. You are such a homer it's unbelievable. Inferiority complex at it's best.

Fun fact, the green colour (which is exaggerated via the photo saturation) comes from 'rock flour' and gives the glacial lakes from which the Bow is sourced (i.e. Bow Lake and Lake Louise) their rather unique colours.

The downtown quickly yields to little SFHs, that's probably what gives that impression.

I had that argument not too long ago with someone on here and I decided to test it for myself by choosing a random spot on a Sunnyside street (right outside the CBD) for a Street View, and to my amazement I ended up on a dirt street/alley (with little houses as expected and little suburban-style lots).

If the guy you're replying to is from Montreal, and he actually is, I am not surprised that he observed how quickly the buildings give way to detached little suburban-style houses. In Montreal (and East Coast cities in general) those are found on the edges of the metro area, not in the core.

If you want to see the glass half-full, you can simply consider that what he said was "wow, that's an overgrown CBD for its footprint!". It's the same thing.

That's not what you said. You said Calgary is tied with Vancouver and Toronto...

In what universe is Calgary tied with Toronto for best skyline? That's like saying Fort McMurray is tied with Calgary and Edmonton for Alberta's best skyline. You're either trolling or high on some good stuff, still waiting for that drug dealer's contact # s'il vous plaît...

Brookfield (Herald Square) might actually block out Telus Sky from that angle.

I have been to Montreal many times and I think it's a solid 4th in the skyline department. Montreal is not a particularly high rise city, it still has a great downtown but its charms are in its street level and historic fabric. I would say the same about Boston. You may disagree and that is fine - but I don't think it is reason to get hot under the collar...

I 100% agree with you. I have been to Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary by the way.

IMO, in no way does tall buildings entirely make the charm of a skyline. Which is why I did not include Houston or Dallas in my fav North American skylines. There's much more to it. It's just that scrapin seems to completely ignore Canada's second biggest city in all of his lists on purpose, so I believe he is a troll... And he's has Chad's approval so I guess that what he says is completely legit. Go Calgary, heehaw!

why don't you shut up Chad.... SkahHigh didnt' say anything bad against Calgary... I agree! We all agree for a city of that size to have a great skyline is impressive! but thats it!! A SKYLINE ! lets not go there... I had enough of this. We have great cities in Canada with great solid downtown cores... I'm happy with it.

well, the guy is entitled to his opinion. I love the skylines of Seattle and Minneapolis - I like the balance and quality of the buildings moreso than, say, Dallas and Houston, even though the latter two cities have more highrises. It's not entirely a numbers game.

What point is there for people (this guy isn't even from Calgary) to have opinions in a discussion thread if we are not allowed to dissent from the popular narrative without being ridiculed and accused of being on drugs? Some of you guys need to work on engaging in a more mature discourse...
