I was hearing chatter that they were having big problems installing the glass panels on the canopy (fit issues), which is why it's taking so long. Perhaps only chatter, but they do seem to be taking forever and a day.

My recollection from the project's first pass through the UDP was that the quasi pedestrian-primary aesthetic and lighting will be in effect through all of the project's alleys, which is a big part of why the parking access is off of Richards street. With that said, I expect that the part to the north of the Kingston Hotel and the pieces that connects through to Georgia Street through the office portion of the project (below) will be the most pedestrian parts.

I think I see a new sidewalk to the Kingston. The little garden near the steps has been partially removed. So, not the full width yet but a continuation of the 1.8m sidewalk that goes by the steps. Just one gap left to be done near the Kingston (see last pic).

I really wnder how much they can transform the alley wall of the old William Farrell Building @ Robson. Left side in your last pic.
That'll be the stumbling block in the scheme.

Nice!
I wonder if someone at the City took a look at your pics here and at PriceTags?

PS - I also wonder how L'Hermitage managed to get away with such a narrow sidewalk along Richards?

That garden was just the ultimate in poor planning:

Glass supports going in for the atrium/lobby wall at the Georgia Street side. Also, some silvery flashing (?) being applied to the arch.

Here's a visual tour of the back alley as it is today. The old back side of the William Farrell building will need a lot of work and to a lesser degree the Kingston. I wonder if there's any way they can rework the back of the Kingston into a little coffee bar or something with a little patio.

And last but not least, before and after pics. I think the little garden lasted about nine days. It looks like the full width of the sidewalk on Richards Street might be completed soon. A bike rack has been installed near the mystery steps.

Thanks for the photos.

You can see the retractable video projection screen being partially tested here:

Thanks for the pics - WRT the alley, the open house board says 555 Robson (William Farrell Building) will get a green screen - so probably not retail frontages?

Pics by me from last Friday (Feb 6th) of the lighting under the Richards St. overhang.
It was only blue when I saw it, so I don't know if it changes colours. The open house boards said they are colour programmable.

There's a "Phase 2" that includes expanding the penthouse of the older building by 2 floors - so maybe that's a "go" - or just façade replacement on the older building?

Massing model from 2011:

Hi there!

Thank you all so much for posting tons of valuable material about Telus Garden building. It's an amazing project.

I have some questions, if you don't mind.

1. Does anyone have a photo of what would view look like from the 19th floor of Telus Garden residential building facing West side?
2. My second question is for user "officedweller."

Are you referring to the building facing Seymour Street, just in front of the Telus Garden residential tower? At least 7-8 floors (facing west) have totally blocked view because of that building. I am concerned they will build 2 more floors on top of this building for data center. Hope that's not going to happen.

Interesting, I didn't know about this expansion. I wonder if people buying in the lower floors knew about it either. On the same note, I wonder if people buying units facing west are either aware of the new office tower soon going up next to Scotiabank Tower. That will ruin views for many very or maybe a fiasco like with Jameson vs. Exchange Tower will ensue...

I do like the sound of façade replacement - I hope something like that would happen with the old building!

All units were already sold in 2012 in about a month. Units on sale ("assignment condos") are now trading for about $100,000 profit to the original owner.

Good thing I came to this website. I was about to purchase an assignment condo no the 19th floor, but after viewing so many photos on this forum and learning so many new things, I think I will steer away from the Telus Garden building.

What new office tower will be built next to Scotiabank?

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, that's right. It would be a vertical addition to the existing Telus Building on Seymour St.
I don't know what the status of it is, though - it could just be a "future" phase.

A new office tower on the Vancouver Centre parkade site.
It's a half block away and slightly to the north of Robson, so the condo would still have views down Robson Street.
