That's life on the high prairie next to the Rockies lol. I always tell people you only need 2 words to describe weather in Calgary, highly and variable.

Yeah, that's normal in Wreckhouse, though. The "mountains" funnel the wind down across a broad, flat plain. No one lives there anymore (hence the name) so it's really only a concern for tractor trailers, lifted pick-ups, Purolator-style trucks, etc. The Trans Canada Highway goes right through it (you have to in that area), so those get blown over on their sides there all the time.

So looks like Victoria hit record highs yesterday and today ... although average highs are more important to me. It is currently 12 downtown.

It is also Victoria's 7 day above 10 this January.

The best Canadian city for jogging year round.

Estevan Point near Tofino is on their 11 day above 10 so far this month.

You mean the two days in September followed by 25 degree temps? It really does. Thanks for the unrelenting recognition big smart fella. You're so enlightened, we get it.

Forecast for tomorrow is 14, followed by 15 Monday, 5 Tuesday, 3 Wednesday, 1 Thursday, and -1 Friday. So yeah, things have been more than made up for. Too bad you can't use the Parody thread as your own personal douchebagfest anymore, eh?

And so it begins.

Traffic lights are out in my neighbourhood but power isn't yet. Electricity has been restored to the Burin Peninsula. The only areas with outages as of right now (9:35 a.m. NT) are:

154 km/h? Wow I suppose Wreckouse is a appropriate name for this place... The strongest wind I have experienced was about 120 km/h back in 1999 and it caused a mess in Sherbrooke, destroying a church, ripping roofs and downing trees.

I think Sig needs to start the Wreckhouse Windmill Company.

I don't need to go all the way to Wreckhouse for that.

Went for a little spin around the neighbourhood. It's not as windy in town as up on Signal Hill, we're pretty sheltered, but it's still blowing a gale.

It's actually pretty windy here at my place, and I live down in a valley. Quite surprised, usually don't notice any wind unless I get up out of here closer to where Sig lives.

The strongest wind gusts I can remember were about 140'ish during hurricane Igor. It's actually frightening, it really sounds like a (small) train passing over your house, and everything shakes like during a huge thunderstorm. At least during the winter months the trees are bare, otherwise everything would be a huge mess.
