Sunny and 5-7c this morning in Victoria @ 8am. Too bad it is ruined by wind... a cold dry (icy) one blowing from the NE High of 7 forecast for today.

We managed a high of 11 yesterday with lows of 2 to 6 around the region.

We are at 18c now with lots of sunshine (surpassed our forecasted high by 4c). People are out on their bikes, walking in tshirts. It's gorgeous. A final glimpse of fall before winter takes over tomorrow.

A few flakes flew last night but nothing on the ground.

Tonight we freeze. -3C forecast, so there's no escaping that.

Norms for November 11

High: 7C
Low: 0C

And this is the first day of the winter for which our norm is to freeze. Fitting!

Records for November 11

High: 17.7C (1977)
Low: -6.9C (1992)
Rainfall: 69.9mm (1972)
Snowfall: 13.2cm (1955)
Snow on ground: 8.0cm (1976)

for a second there I thought we had somehow managed to get in an argument over weather that heated up to the point where the thread had to be locked. Thought the Canada subsection had reached a new low for a few seconds there... phew.

^ not yet, but we can try.

I hear it's a dry cold in Calgary versus a wet cold in Toronto, that's why it feels colder in Toronto at the same exact temperature.

Our wet 16°C today probably felt about comparable to Calgary's dry -13°C.

I am always shocked to see -20C temperatures so early... our record low is still not even -10C (-8.3C for today).

Shit. The Europeans are usually right in the end so I'm going to operate under the assumption we will indeed get snow in the capital.

CBC NL

Also, the forecast now predicts our first fully sub-zero day of the winter. Already. That's not a good sign.

Getting up to about 12C today in Moncton with showers.

I guess this is better than about 98% of the country though......
