Interesting shot of Vancouver. By 99% of all shots you would never know that there were any houses left in downtown Vancouver.

Those few that remain are protected as historic buildings so they aren't going anywhere. It's a nice little reprieve of the endless apt towers that make up the core. The density and vibe of the West End is very nice as it is established and doesn't look like a McDevelopment that Coal harbour and Yaletown do. Those areas will never have the liveability and diversity of the West End, never.

The density of Vancouver's core is great but you never realize how much you miss the warmth of good old fashioned houses. The apts that grew up in the post-war era of the West End have added to the vitality of the area but it certainly came at a price. The destruction of the West End was the equivalent of what would happen if Cabbagetown or the Plateau was levelled.

Thats a great Vancouver angle. It shows more thick office buildings and more variety in colour and material while hiding a lot of the skinny green glass condos.

Is there a thread for this project? I'd love to see more pictures.

Nevermind, I found it. Great looking building, forgot all about it...

Like the Vancouver shot, a different angle giving off a more rugged industrial feel. Maybe because we've seen the other perspectives a thousand times, but these angles are far more interesting to look at.

That is an impressive shot of Toronto, what kind of industrial building is that in the front?
It looks out of place...

Sugar refinery. And sugar beach directly opposite it.

I suppose Vancouver doesn't have an air rights system like NYC? Would've worked to keep houses in there, although it's too late now.
