I was thinking this as well, in fact I can't think of any city that doesn't have massive areas primarily consisting of one or two different architectural styles (usually a window into their "Boom Times"). Even the Holy skyline grail of New York can look very monotonous from many vantage points.
Same with any skyline here in Japan from most angles, and South America, and Toronto, and Montreal, etc... in fact the only cities that don't have such "monotony" are usually ones with very few residential towers, such as LA or Houston.
Korean cities are extremely monotonous, as are Chinese cities (but we are always only shown pics of the core CBDs). Vancouver's CBD is also very layered with many different styles.
