Some slight differences in the Fig Central & Metropolis sites since my last images a week ago:

Wow, didn't realize that big hole on the north side of the Metropolis parking lot. Could that be Phase 2 in progress?

I just walked past that. It isn't a hole, but actually a dirt mound. It just looks different.

Thanks for the explanation. The reflection of that water does give the illusion of digging. I read that Phase 2 would be starting later this year but now its looking like its not. But of course it's not the end of the year yet and there's construction vehicles on that north end parking. I also don't see all the parked cars that were there often.

Cement is being poured. I feel sorry for the construction workers working at 3 AM.

I don't mean to rehash something we've discussed 100 times already. I'm just finding it more disappointing as more of the building is revealed.

Nice pics BTW, Kelbeen.
I am so with you in your feelings--and I don't care of it has been discussed over a 100 times--I will always think of "what could have been"

Is it dedication, or obsession?

Federal Courthouse
From earlier today, standing on the corner of 1st and Broadway, looking southwest. They've started adding two more floors on the east side, and fireproofing of the steel looks to have been finished on the 3rd floor, but not the second.

Imagine that-- federal investments are creating good construction jobs.

For those of us not involved on construction, what does fireproofing look like and why does the process involve?

They're slowly poking out holes on the Broad facade, lol! They're working on the top row and right column

Park/Courtyard

Broadway; anyone know what they're doing here?

^ Conversion to apartments, I believe. It's been under construction for some time. At least 6 months.

Looks like the grass at Grand Park has seen better days. I wonder if they're cutting back on watering it because of the drought.

202_Cyclist, fireproofing is a spray-on fire retardant that dries into the light grey color seen in my photograph (compared to the rusty brown-red of the steel floors above), and protects the steel from fire for roughly 3-4 hours, I believe. Doesn't make it fireproof, per se, but provides enough time to evacuate a building and allow for firefighters to put out the fire before the structural integrity is compromised. Pretty standard in fire codes for this type of construction in most countries these days.
