Excellent news about the Arcade. Its been a mess for a long time, but i did notice the arcade was shut down about a month ago and people were touring. Lights have been on in a couple of the units a few times over the last week or so. Next should be the Garfield building, which is beautiful.

Also, as i was going by the Commercial Exchange this morning, i could see that they took down the plywood that was covering the retail frontages. Progress!

The pic of the building with the Arcade is not current; likely from the '90s. It's not in great shape now, but not that awful.

Then, "Esotouric" also mentioned that he talked to the retailers on the groundfloor along with those next door and they were told the arcade is closed for good and the upper floors would be turned to condo units. This could be huge!

True story. Building sold and upper floors will be creative office.

I am a little concerned you live in such a sketchy neighborhood.

Creative Office, Condos or multi-use?

I'm hoping the building next door will follow suit.

On one hand the panel detail looks quite cool up close like that.

On the other hand, the "porous, absorptive" veil that was initially promised is nowhere to be found. Its like this is a complete different building than what was shown in the renderings.

I don't mean to rehash something we've discussed 100 times already. I'm just finding it more disappointing as more of the building is revealed.

Nice pics BTW, Kelbeen.

I'm torn on it too. So much potential, and there are aspects of it that I still like, but the overall end product feels like a disappointment architecturally. That said, it will be awesome to have another great museum in downtown, and even more so since it will be free.

Did the other sides still have the "punch-out" feature where the veil is actually punctuated by holes? I have to say the Grand side looks better than I had feared.
