YYC-YHZ (6 weekly rouge 319 up to 10 weekly in peak summer) effective 1 May
So a return to YHZ as a summer seasonal route and one of the first domestic rouge routes being launched.
Ever hear of Google? It's this amazing internet search tool. I find it helpful when perusing other threads that may be acronym-heavy and that I'm less familiar with the subject matter. Very handy.
Nice to see AC finally (after a couple years of neglect) adding a little flying. Was starting to think they were relegating YYC to the YEG classification. AFAIK, they didn't fly YXY-YYC (CRJ2) this past summer like they did the year before, either. Seems it's always tiny gains here, tiny losses there, AC simply trying not to lose more ground in Alberta.
Within this press release from YYC about AC's new flights... the debate about whether YYC is a hub, a mini hub or a major hub for Air Canada or not a hub at all has been resolved once and for all!
"'As a major hub for Air Canada, YYC is thrilled to be a strategic location for the airline’s continued growth,' said Stephan Poirier, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for The Calgary Airport Authority."

Major hub, huh? Look out YVR (Vancouver International airport, Richmond, British Columbia) and YUL (Pierre Elliot Trudeau International airport, Dorval, province de Québec), here comes YYC. In fact, let's go after the big kid on the playground, YYZ (Lester B. Pearson International airport, Mississauga, Ontario)!. Why settle for second, right?

That Ben Smith calls YYC an AC hub is a bit more objective, but not much.
Most objective is that Canada only has one true hub, AC @YYZ, plus two mini hubs with AC @YVR and @YUL. YYC is a focus city for both AC and WS, and as well as the WS focus city at YYZ.

I could be wrong, but I always thought this thread was originally intended for airport construction (which why I visit this thread) and developments and all this planespotter chatter was just a byproduct.
While I don't mind the chatter, being an elitist jerk when someone asks a question is not cool.
It's pretty damn easy to figure out what the airport codes mean. There's only a few of them in Canada and the international ones tend to be easier to figure out as they generally mirror the name of the city.
We have aviation insiders here who share useful information about the airport, and this is the way they talk. Stop being lazy and use Google if you don't know what they mean.

While I appreciate that people are contributing their insider knowledge I agree with those arguing that knowing all the airport codes shouldn't be a requirement for reading and comprehending a thread on a skyscraper forum about the Calgary airport. There have been 20 codes mentioned in the last two pages (on default page settings) not including YYC. I doubt the average person would know even half of them without looking them up.
When someone says that YYC is adding 3x VRA for example it would be nice to know if this is something significant (like adding Dubai or Tokyo would be) or pretty much a non-event (like adding flights to Minneapolis or Anaheim).
I don't mind the codes in code form. Most of them are pretty obvious and for anything difficult I just open another tab and search them. Simple and quick. Nerd on.
