The shaw PVR schedule had the flight plan YYC parts 1 and 2 schedule as to be announced. I just checked next weekend and both sat and sun 4pm have to be announced.

I have a funny feeling that we will forever be pre-empted By other shows and events.

Agreed, which is why I too emailed them so at least maybe they'll air at some point well out of prime hours so we can at least record it.

Believe it or not it's on the biography channel at 5am on both Dec -10th and 13th your time (Shaw Direct). Both one hour shows but does not mention which part.

One thing I found interesting is when they mentioned our cargo deliveries are growing faster than all other major Canadian airports combined.

Ties into this.

Calgary industrial real estate market one of strongest in North America

Construction at the Oxford Airport Business Park in May 2012.

BY MARIO TONEGUZZI, CALGARY HERALD, CALGARY HERALD DECEMBER 4, 2014
North America’s industrial real estate market, including Calgary’s, is firing on all cylinders these days.
A report by commercial real estate firm Colliers International said positive demand drivers should lead to continued industrial occupancy gains into 2015 even with the large amount of supply slated to come online.
Calgary has 132 million square feet of industrial real estate inventory. The report said 1.1 million square feet of new supply was added in the third quarter of this year while 2.2 million square feet has been added year-to-date until the end of September. Also, 2.4 million square feet is under construction.
The third quarter absorption – the change in occupied space – in Calgary’s market was 975,054 square feet while it was 3.9 million square feet year-to-date. And the vacancy rate was 4.43 per cent at the end of September, up slightly from 4.39 per cent at the end of June.
“While the economic recovery in the U.S. is gaining momentum and positively affecting their industrial markets, the frenzied pace of activity in the Calgary market is relentless,” said Joe Binfet, managing director of Colliers International in Calgary.
“Calgary’s fundamentals for growth are solid as our industrial market is driven by distribution which is directly correlated to consumer confidence and consumer spending. Our industrial leasing team is seeing strong interest from e-commerce companies and logistics facilities looking for a presence in the High Plains Industrial Park. Industrial land remains in demand with little inventory in the primary markets and limited land available in the secondary markets outside of Calgary.”
The Colliers International North American Q3 Industrial Report said the vacancy rate in the U.S. is 7.5 per cent, down 0.2 per cent from the previous quarter, while Canada’s remains flat at 4.0 per cent.
Third quarter absorption was 60.4 million in the U.S. and 4.3 million in Canada. New supply was 36.3 million in the U.S. and 5.3 million in Canada. There is 140.2 million square feet under construction south of the border and 15.7 million square feet in Canada.
“The North American industrial market continued to fire on all cylinders in (the third quarter) driven by ongoing expansion in the manufacturing sector, strong auto sales, rising housing starts and robust growth in e-commerce, bolstering demand for bulk industrial and logistics facilities,” said the report.
“Projections for the key industrial economic indicators portend continued growth in the industrial sector through 2015.”

Yeah saw that as well, thanks. Used the Guide search with Telus Optik TV. Unfortunately I don't subscribe to that channel.

Didn't come up on any other channel.

Big shame, I really enjoyed the first part. Came off a little as a puff piece for the airport but overall still very cool.

Absolutely. For those who understand the intricacies of our economy, they know the central nature of all the development around the airport. We are thee premier distribution and logistics hub for Western Canada. Massive employment in this sector, and becoming a real driver for Calgary.

Does YYC-DFW always go to one daily during the winter?

AC launching 3x YYZ-DXB too next Nov in addition to 4x DEL.
788 x 1 / 789 x 2 mix.

Kind of surprised it took them so long to enter this market.

Now where's YVR-MEL, AC???

Didn't really have an airplane for it. 763 would take a gigantic hit westbound (probably wouldn't work, period), only 6 77L that are better used elsewhere (and are very J-heavy), and the 77W is likely too much airplane.

No. Has historically been 2x MD-80, is currently 2x 319.

They could have launched it with 788. And 77W in 3-3-3 config isn't much larger than a 3-3-3 789 in AC config. Only about 50-60 more seats.

But better late than never. I hope they have planned a code-share/JV with Emirates

2-class 77W is likely more CASM disadvantaged vs a 789 on this route than the 50-60 seat delta would indicate, not to mention they're on their way to being reconfigured for ~400 seats when this launches. Too much airplane.

Not really. They only started getting them this year and it's not surprising that they didn't come blazing out of the gate with YYZ-DXB. Given that it will be 2x 789 and 1x 789, it suggests they prefer the economics of that frame for the route and thus they are waiting.

I'm not sure what evidence you have that suggests DXB is some untapped gold mine of revenue for AC with an airplane other than the 789.

AA is doing some juggling to get planes painted, among other things. We should at least hold onto the 319 until the 738 comes back but we might be dipping below 14x weekly for several days in the period you mention.

2x 319 is the lowest seat total to DFW we've seen in a little while.

hmm interesting.

AC's flights leave on T,R,S (opposite to EK's M,W,F). Also, better timed on the return for business travelers (depart at 23:55, arrive at 05:00 as opposed to EK's 09:55-15:25)

I wonder if AC could team up with AI and use the DXB hub for their own advantage. eg. YYZ-DXB on AC then DXB-ATQ, BOM, HYD, JAI, BLR etc. on AI.

Will this mean more landing slots for EK/EY into Canada? Things are getting interesting..

I can only see this happening if Emirates starts code-sharing with AC (like EY) and then convince AC to convince the Govt for more landing slots at YYZ.

Didn't Turkish do exactly this?

AC announces new YYC routes

Here's some good news :-)

YYC-YXT (daily Jazz CRJ) year-round effective 1 June
YYC-YCD (daily Jazz DH4) year-round effective 1 May
YYC-YHZ (6 weekly rouge 319 up to 10 weekly in peak summer) effective 1 May

So a return to YHZ as a summer seasonal route and one of the first domestic rouge routes being launched.

http://aircanada.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=838

Also YYC-VRA being rouged too.

Encore does fly to YXT out of YVR, I can't imagine there is a huge demand for flights to there currently though the stats do show its growing (177,000 passengers in 2013, expecting to hit 250,000 by 2019)
