Like I said. Check out Schedule 'C' of the developer's upcoming delegation at city council Thursday evening. Space for what I listed listed along with some other businesses is already leased according to the map.

Pretty impressive that Rochdale Station is virtually completely leased and they did not even have approval yet let alone any construction started. I wonder if the east Superstore is similarly leased.

The east site appears to also have an identical Shopper's Drug Mart sized building. Another blow to Vic. Square. Talking about Vic Square, I noticed construction in the front of the former Zeller's. The GoodLife Fitness is going in the back, so I am not sure what this is.

upscale casual restaraunt at 2500 sq feet though? Seems pretty tiny. I would bet that the Asian place is likely WaSaBi but I can't think of what would fit in the "upscale casual" place. Definitely a chain but I have no clue which one.

Breakfast place is more than likely Cora as you said as they like to be around 3000-3400 square feet.

I have a feeling Shoppers stays at Vic square. They have two similar size shoppers on McCarthy that seem to do okay.

I apologize if you interpreted my comment as advertising. I was referring to Malt City, the Capitol, Victorias, Crave, Flip, etc. They are doing great stuff, and were an inspiration to do my own thing. I think a nice downtown chain, and particularly something like Cactus Club (starting to sound like I work there) can definitely benefit. Just regularly bringing people downtown is a huge benefit in my eyes. I would still much prefer something unique to the city if the choice exists though, like Ayden here. It, in my opinion, has much better food AND is local.

Ok, to get sort of construction related. Were there any major streetscaping projects this last summer? I don't recall seeing any posted.

As I had posted last month, Humpty's was advertising in the October 11th Leader-Post for a franchisee for a location at Rochdale Station. I would think this would be the breakfast/lunch place, not Cora's. Personally, I would rather see Cora going there and not Humpty's.

I have been told that JYSK is going into the old Zellers for 29,000 square feet worth. I was also told that Marks Work warehouse was looking to move in there

So I was talking to somebody about a lot of these new developments yesterday who is in the know and he started telling me about some projects that are still in the planning stage.

The first thing they told me is that the Costco rumours are true. They are moving to a new location by the bypass and the store is going to be massive.

The second thing they told me was that a company who is doing some initial research in the same area is none other than Ikea. Now he clarified to me that this wasn't a sure thing and they are a long way from making it official but they love the area right by the bypass as it is a once in a generation location for the city. I'm not saying they are coming but they are doing their research and it is a possibility that an Ikea opens here sometime in 2018.

I don't know if any of this is true, but I have said in the Bypass thread that the Bypass is going to fundamentally change our City - everything from commuting patterns to development to how the City looks when you approach on the Highway.

Speaking of furniture, there is a new place opening up on the main floor of centre square place on Broad called mu furniture. I couldn't find a Facebook page or web-site on line except one based in Shanghai. So not sure if there is any relation but it does look like a funky place with modern furniture. It is not open yet but looks to be ready soon. There are also renos going on in the spot right next to the furniture store so another retailer will be opening by the looks of it.

The only downside I could see is a possible donut effect where some of the more recent commercial near the earlier city limits becomes vacant.

Hey guys: Well, I'm back for my bi-monthly visit to town.

I can't believe that there's building activity going on west of Campbell St. (West of HL/Grasslands.) They're just a diggin' away there! There's also a lot of digging 'n stuff at the west end of the GTH as well. Harvard's Westerra signs were erected today.

Does anybody know where Leopolds East is going? I have a few guesses. Besides Five Guys maybe or in the Fat Burger strip mall perhaps?

My understanding is that it's going in the strip mall to the East of POW on Quance in one of the open spaces, closer to the new VW dealership.

That would be a nightmare. There's not enough parking there as it is. Parking creeps out on to the roads around as it is.

Ok boys, bring it in! I got an update on Famoso in Hill Tower 2. The tenders have been released with construction start of mid Jan. I've seen the renderings and it looks really nice, with a patio out front that will seat about 30. The design has lots of glass, wood and brick with high ceilings, but definitely has a pizzeria feel to it. Targeted opening is late May 2015, will be nice to have another food/drink option downtown. When I get time I will try to post a few renderings.

Nice. I quite like that place. I wish Saskatoon's was going downtown, it's unfortunately in Lawson Heights.
