Does anyone know how many cranes will be working on this tower? Just something I thought I'd throw out, and when they will install one. I would image maybe 3 months but who knows.

How long does anyone think it will be until the core is started the building is up and rising (where the Wilshire Grand Tower is at now)? And does the approaching winter affect the speed of the project?

Yeah they did that fast, so now they are drilling where they couldn't drill before. Then after that I think they will start drilling in the core plot.

I've done some concrete work so my guess is that they are tying the different bars together. That was for road construction so this might be different. It helps keep everything in place when your pouring concrete into a mold.

So it's foundation or retaining wall installation. After which the temporary wood retainer will be removed and all back filled.

Once the rebar is fully installed they will then set the other side of the form to create a box and pour concrete into it and that will form the wall.

The lagging boards can remain. The gap between the perimeter wall and the lagging boards might receive a drainage system at the bottom of the wall then backfilled with stone and then structured soil on top. Perhaps the top so many ft /m of the shoring system would be removed. I am on project which used the mentioned method.

It's amazing how deep that hole is ... wonder what they ended up doing with the mountain of dirt and rocks that came out of it. That is a dirt pile the size of a 7 story building taking up an entire city block. Ok, maybe a 5 story building ... hard to gauge ... tall.

What's with the deeper, second hole? Is that the footprint of the actual tower portion of the building? (As I understand, the building, but not the tower, will cover the entire lot.)

Another thing that's pretty neat is if you look at some of the buildings around town you can see the wood grain left it's mark in the concrete. I'm pretty sure this building is a good example of that:

Could that be the footprint of the core?
