Not yet !

Unfortunately I had some problems with my batteries, so I don't have any pictures of Halifax except a video of 20min between Upper-shackville ( I was in KOA campground) & downtown.

Hopefully, I have many videos & photos of Peggy's cove, Lunenburg and St-john NB.

Now it's just a matter of putting them together, but thanks for noticing !

I had a real crush on Halifax when I last visited this summer, but Victoria, St-John's, Ottawa, are also stunners for sure.
Oh ya..+1 for St. John's as well..The bright colours and rocky terrain overlooking the Atlantic make it photogenic.

And yes Victoria, Halifax and Ottawa also have nice natural settings..

Second or third place goes to St. John's IMO...

Natural settings for major Canadian cities, and not necessarily in particular order.

Vancouver. QC, Halifax, St. John's, Victoria, Ottawa

Can we consider a canadian city to be ''major'' over 100 000 (metro area) or the city itself only ?

It would be nice to make a poll just for fun.

IMO the mountains in Calgary are too far to be considered a "natural setting". And while the river and Prince's Island are nice, Calgary's natural setting is ugly shades of yellow/brown or white/grey most of the year. If you exclude the mountains then Calgary's I put natural setting is pretty low on the national list, definitely lower than Ottawa or even Toronto.

For large Canadian cities: Vancouver, Quebec, Victoria and St. john's with honourable mentions to Ottawa, Thunder Bay, Toronto and Halifax. (And I guess Kelowna too)

In terms of notably-sized cities (metro area > 100k) I would say

(spectacular)

1. Vancouver
2. QC (tie)
2. St. John's (tie)

(above average)

4. Kelowna
5. Victoria
6. Halifax
7. Montreal (tie)
7. Ottawa (tie)

(average)

9. Hamilton
10. Toronto

Of course there may be other cities above 100k I'm simply forgetting.

Regarding the best natural settings list..Kudos to all 99.999999999999% of you.. Very objective. Glad to see you keeping your homer glasses at home...Sudbury was an odd choice IMO..NASA tested lunar equipment there...I can see how some would be intrigued by that landscape though..I've been there dozens of times, and it does have a different landscape for sure.

If there was a large city in the central/east Ontario interior, like if Bancroft grew to become a city, or if a major city existed around Algonquin Park or Bon Echo, it would have an amazing natural setting.

Foymount, Ontario--a small hamlet (I believe it's a ghost town) up in the hills in that area--would have made quite a setting as it sits at the very top of the area's elevation.

Since we're doing the best natural settings thing: Vancouver is of course far and away the best, though Quebec City & St. John's are quite stunning as well. Victoria, Sherbrooke, Montreal, Kelowna are also nice. I'm not sure why Halifax or Ottawa rank so highly on so many people's lists...they're okay, but nothing special. Toronto isn't anything special either but tends to get sold short on this front - the broad lakeshore, beaches, islands, and ravines aren't too bad of a substitute for a mountain backdrop.

Toronto, Ottawa, and the Prairie cities are down near the bottom. Probably Windsor, London, and most of Ontario's towns too. They're flat and boring. Gatineau has nice hills, but Ottawa itself is depressingly flat.

Halifax looks nice though, hills and little lakes all over the place. I think Vancouver wins, not from the city itself but the suburbs (the city proper looks about as flat as Toronto).

Hamilton does good thanks to the escarpment and the lake, but I'm fairly certain Thunder Bay wins out. St. John's is probably near my top. Quebec city does okay.
