If you ever feel like staying longer and are young enough (18-30) our two countries have an amazing "exchange" program. You can get a 12 month Working Holiday visa in either country and quite easy to get. Head to your local Flight Centre... just another simple formality.

Thanks Johnny! I'm pretty excited to be going. I'm going to be spending a little over a week in each of Melbourne and Sydney....prbably flying between each city. Any good cheap flights between the two cities that you can recommend.

How about stuff to see in Melbourne? I'm really looking forward to checking out that city. (sorry....I guessing I'm taking this off topic) You can PM if you'd like. Cheers!

^ Interesting.. I turn 30 next year and maybe I can apply it during my 30th year and as long as I plan to go within that 12mth period, I can technically push it back thru when I become 31. I actually might do that!
Hmm I hope there are architecture or hotel jobs down under..

Sometimes they show weird things - like this WS flight 8964 lol.

That WestJet flight is legitimate. When they take delivery of a new bird at Boeing they invite some employees to come along on the delivery flight. I've even seen a shot of one of the baggage carousels with that flight number and Boeing Field as the airport of departure as employees picked up bags they brought.

Excellent. I'd be excited too.

There are over 80 flights a day between SYD and MEL (no joke!) and fares can go down to about $50 each way so plenty of choices. So yeah not to derail the thread feel free to PM with any specific questions you have... I know my adopted country well!

No kidding about the number of flights between the two cities lol! I w checked out some prices and yes...nice and cheap! Totally pumped.

Good to see more Canadians wanting to come downunder and vice versa. So keep on coming! I used to think it was such a long trip but with more direct flights it's really not bad at all.

We currently have two Antonov 124's here, one Volga-Dnepr and one Antonov Design Bureau (in the new livery and possibly with new engines). No notifications on their respective departure times yet.

Indeed, she does a very good job..
I honestly can't recall if we ever had 2 Antonov's at one time in our airport's history.
Maybe the G8? But that involved C5 Galaxies..

Oops i meant he does a very good job with the video footages.

The only other time I've seen two Antonov 124's here was just after Desert Storm in '91. Two came in to pick up fire fighting equipment from Safety Boss for the well fires in Kuwait. They both parked down at the Shell.

It's a fair ways away, but I find that if you aren't flying with kids, the distances don't really matter that much to me. Once you're flying somewhere you're flying somewhere....that said 22.5 hrs of travel time is a bit of a haul. It's all worth it though.

Anyone know why the FID's are now calling it "West Kootenay" and not "Castlegar". I know the airport is called "West Kootenay Regional Airport" but isn't this confusing. aircanada.ca's booking engine calls it "Castlegar" and I think 99% of people would say "I'm flying to Castlegar tomorrow" not "I'm flying to West Kootenay Regional tomorrow."

YVR still calls it Castlegar.

Really they should just change it to Cancelgar.

question because I have not seen the new boards yet. Is the situation the same for other destinations or just this one?

ie does the boards say Toronto or Pearson Int'l?
Montreal or Trudeau Airport?
Houston or Bush
London or Heathrow?

etc.
