CX Cargo in right now is the "World Trader" special livery. If they depart 17R I'll get a look at it from here at work around 0805.

Speaking of AUS they get up gauged to a 777 shortly and YUL gets the 787 that was deployed in that route.

Does YUL usually get downgraded to a 767/787 in the winter or was it 777 year round in previous years?

Delta's got a flight to Sactown (Sacramento) this morning. Any ideas what the story is behind this? Looking at the flight # I'd guess it's a charter of some sorts.

Ps. New FID screens look AWESOME!

Hey guys, this is a bit off topic, but wondering if anyone can tell me the quick and dirty on getting a Visa for Australia? I am looking at going November 6th.

Do Canadians need a Visa? If you are just vacationing for less than 3 months, I thought it was a show up and get stamped in upon arrival.

Double check this, as it has been 5 years since I was last in Australia (and then I had a 4 year working Visa) but I intend to go as a tourist next year.

I took a 4 week Aussie / NZ trip two years ago to see some friends down there. Had never been down there before prior, had this same question. I ended up using a travel agent who specializes in Aus/NZ trips and it was the best desicion of my trip (Typically I would never use an agent):
- They set up the necassary visa for you.
- They worked out a deal that saved me a good amount of money off my flight that I was going to book (also took out the stop over in LA, which becomes a pain in the ass)
- I had an intinerary worked out in my head between the two countries that he revised for the better given the known logistics.

...In summary, I would highly recomend this route! I'm pretty sure you can also just set up a visa with them as well. If you're interested, shoot me a PM and I'll dig up the contact for who I used.

At a minimum you will need an ETA, electronic travel authorization.

See weblink: https://www.eta.immi.gov.au/ETA/etas.jsp

Cost is quite minimal. Easy to obtain online. Take printout with you as the airline will ask to see the ETA prior to boarding. If you cannot produce the ETA, The airline will charge you to get a second ETa.

The ETA has been around way longer than American version, the ESTA. Both documents serve the same purpose, to provide advance screening capabilities.

Thanks guys! I will do some checking around. I googled it of course, but it seems like so much info out there, it's hard to tell what exactly is needed.

I found some Visa process site and thought I might try them.

I will be going to NZ next month, and will possibly be transiting through Australia. I have been advised that visas are required to enter Australia and if just transiting, then a transit visa is required.

Thanks I should try for a Visa then by the looks of it.

Edit: Just spoke to someone from the Australian government and they mentioned that for Canadian Passport holders in good health, the ETA is fine.

Thanks for all the info guys!

Hmm, will the sun still be up at 640pm? sounds tempting..
Nevermind, I just checked and the sun will be down by 6pm with twilight transitioning towards night around 630..

Have a great trip to the land Downunder!

For Canadians it's just a formality really... bit of a cash grab :/)

If you ever feel like staying longer and are young enough (18-30) our two countries have an amazing "exchange" program. You can get a 12 month Working Holiday visa in either country and quite easy to get. Head to your local Flight Centre... just another simple formality.
