I'm gonna just count it as an indirect penalty for doing something as unoriginal and boring as "Ski City." Of course someone else was using that. It's like something my grandpa would come up with and then look around the room at everyone like he just invented the wheel.

Utahan's the friendliest? Really? I don't get that impression at all.

In my experience here, I have attempted to be polite, say hello, open doors, ect. then realizing that I might as well do that for a heard of cattle. The reaction is exactly the same.

I seriously believe it may have something to do with the limited gene pool.

The results of studies vary due various factors. For example it depends on who is asked, who did the study, who funded the study and so forth. When I last visited SLC, the experience was very pleasant and friendly.

I think there's a difference between being superficially "nice" and genuinely "friendly." I see a lot of people who are nice around here. I don't know about friendly.

I've thought about this same thing. It seems like whenever I go anywhere out of state, the people I encounter are extremely friendly. Houston, Upstate New York, and Portland, I can think of specific instances where complete strangers have approached me in a nonweird, friendly way that I've never come across once in all my years in Utah. So yeah, people are nice, but not friendly. I wouldn't say all the niceness is superficial though. I think for the most part there are genuine desires to reach out and make people feel good about themselves, but many people have just the most rudimentary of social skills, especially when interacting with nonmormons. In general though, I prefer our people to people in places like southern California. I've been there so many times and not only haven't been treated kindly, but people have been downright mean.

111 S MAIN IS A VERY UNIQUE BUILDING. THE LOT IS ONLY DESIGNATED FOR 17,000SF BUT THE TOWER IS GOING TO HAVE 21,000SF FLOORS. HOW? WELL SOM DESIGNED A ONE OF KIND HAT TRUSS THAT ALLOWS OVER A THIRD OF THE BUILDINGS WEIGHT TO BE CARRIED BY THE ROOF OF THE TOWER. SO THE CENTRAL CORE WILL BRANCH OFF LIKE A TREE AND ALL THE FLOORS WILL HANG FROM THE TRUSS AT THE VERY TOP, WHICH IS VISIBLE THROUGH THE GLASS PARAPET. WEIRDLY SIMILAR DESIGN TO THE PRUDENTIAL BUILDING THAT WAS TORN DOWN TO MAKE WAY FOR 111 S MAIN. INTERESTING......
