I heard this week another hotel is planned for Union Station, this one across from the new King Soopers at 20th & Chestnut. 12 story Hilton Garden Inn, I believe, and will incorporate the historic building on the corner. Would that be the 4th DUS hotel?
1. Crawford (open)
2. Kimpton (starting soon at 16th & Wewatta)
3. 1801 Wewatta (proposed)
4. Hilton Garden Inn

Also nearby the Z Block proposal at 19th & Wazee includes a hotel. And the Jet hotel at 16th & Wazee (previously Lodo's only hotel) is currently being renovated.

The Jet was not Lodo's only hotel; The Oxford is the city's oldest and one of it's grandest hotels...and just a block from Union Station.

Ah can't believe I forgot about the Oxford, and I work across the street! There has definitely been a lack of hotel rooms in Lodo but that is changing.

You're so right, Lodo has had a deficit when it comes to hotel rooms. I've gotta believe the former Market Street Station is prime for hotel development...fingers crossed for a W.

Hotels? Yes, ok but when is downtown going to get more and better retail? As I sit in Portland today I'm amazed at all the retail, and the town is pretty dead...and it's a Saturday. My hope for Denver in the next ten years is streetcars and retail, it seems like the population boom downtown warrants both in the not-to-distant future.

A W would be very nice. Marriott's next gen hotels are the Moxy and the AC which Larry Olmsted who writes for Forbes discusses HERE (scroll down).

Would a Fairmont Hotel work in that location?

Since you're in Portland have you checked out the new Tilikum Crossing, Bridge of the People? There's also a very good read about Portland in the NYT Magazine HERE.

As for Streetcars you might want to check out the Transportation thread from time to time. There really is quite a lot of retail in Denver especially if you include the "neighborhoods." I assume more will be added in the coming years though.

This one is FANTASTIC as well! Excellent view of the 16th Street Mall. Although somehow I favor the first one mostly because of all of the swirling of the clouds there.

And just to note, it appears as if the Balfour (I think that's the name of the 5-story white/beige colored building completely lower right) has been completed? I like the two arches there that allow street traffic through them.

I'm assuming these pix are from your drone with HDR? If so, it seems that there's all sorts of possibilities from your "investment" here if only there could be some way to be able to market these prints, if only the FAA didn't have all of the rules that they do....... but if I may ask, is there the possibility that you'll be able to recoup on this investment into the equipment here?

Again...... these pix are remarkable, and including the pix that you did at the park as well, the quality is excellent, and you're getting superb results. One day we've got to get someone in one of these nearby buildings on a terrace, or near a window, and wave at the drone as the pic is snapped, eh?
