Heads up to anybody who loves aerial imagery as much as I do... Google Earth has just uploaded new imagery of most of Denver. It is so new that you can only see it by clicking the historical imagery slider, it hasn't been set as the default aerial yet.

Union Towers West

It will be interesting to see what the new plan for Gates will be. The previous plan back in 2007 had a large amount of retail, movie theater, apartments and offices. That area is too valuable as mixed-use to just be apartments like tv other parcels have been developed around it. I do like the new homes and townhomes that are going up to the east toward Logan.

A story that DBJ has covered and has an update HERE is the purchase of TriZetta by Congiznant Technology Solutions or Cognizant.

A highly successful and growing company I wouldn't know whether they'd ever entertain moving their HQ which currently is in Teaneck NJ but they would be a wonderful addition to Denver's Fortune 500 list.

Just curious if anyone knows this, but just had to stick my nose into this and find something that I have to now figure out but...... I looked up the headquarters of TriZetta, and it is listed as:

9655 Maroon Circle
Englewood, CO 80112

and when I google earthed this..... well, it seems this location/address is nowhere near the City of Englewood, and in fact I believe that this headquarters is in Douglas County, and in an unincorporated/census designated area known as Meridian. I think that all of this info that I've written here is correct. Being that, does any area south of Denver that's unincorporated get an Englewood address? Anyone knows how this works down south over there?

I'm not sure how or why this works, but yes. I believe it's because the Englewood Post Office handles most or all of the mail of unincorporated Arapahoe County (and perhaps Douglas County as well) plus a lot of those sham quasi-towns that don't have their own post offices. A lot of addresses in Cherry Hills Village will have Englewood mailing addresses, and if you ever notice on the news when there's a cop funeral or something, they'll say it's at the First Church of the Nazarene in Englewood, even though it's nowhere near Englewood but is in unincorporated Arapahoe County.

EDIT: That church is actually in Cherry Hills Village city limits as well, but it apparently always identifies as being in Englewood. I suppose it's probably a better plea for donations to pretend that you're poor and from Englewood, but I digress.

You are right. But, I would like to point out that TONS of unincorporated mail also goes through the Littleton post office as well. A huge part of jeffco and dougco believe they live in "Littleton"

Oh yeah, that too. Story of my life in high school because so many people would say that they lived "in Littleton" when they really lived in the hinterlands that barely even feel like the Denver metro area anymore.

Thanks all.... I guess that it's like north of Denver city limits in parts of unincorporated Adams County people living there get a Denver city address even though they're not living in Denver.......... oh well..... it can be confusing for those not familiar with the area, eh?

Then, anyways, of course I couldn't resist, so I opened up Google Earth, took out the ruler there, and it's about 8.5 miles straight-line from the TriZetta location to the nearest point of Englewood city limits and across a county line. But of course Lone Tree is a stone's throw away in about three directions from the TriZetta headquarters..... but why be logical around here? After all, we're the one's who legalized pot, eh?

And now now that I keep thinking about it (because someone had to go and mention it upthread), maybe Congiznant will want to move its headquarters to somewhere in the Denver metro area (Teaneck is very nice, but there are advantages to being in Colorado, eh?), or then maybe even want to choose DT, and then will probably have to have a great big tall new building especially to be built for them? Maybe?

The Englewood address issue in the local media has always puzzled/bothered me as well. The most common one they talk about is "Dove Valley in Englewood" (the Broncos headquarters), which is actually near Arapahoe County Airport east of I-25 in Centennial. Close to 9655 Maroon Circle it looks like.

A few weeks ago a 9news article I was reading talked about the "Cherry Hills Village neighborhood of Englewood" in a story about a house in Cherry Hills with an Englewood address, and the statement made me cringe.

I had heard this was about historic post office designations as opposed to modern ones. Once a property is listed at a certain address, they'd rather not change it to avoid any confusion. It still seems a bit fishy to me though. After the introduction of zip codes to point mail to the correct post office, the city name became an antiquated part of the address anyway. I don't fully understand why property owners wouldn't simply update their addresses, but maybe it just doesn't bother some people as much as it does me!

Just thinking out loud here, but I would suppose that since the City of Centennial incorporated as recently as 2001, there must have been a lot of addresses there previous to incorporation that probably had Englewood or Littleton as the city. But currently I would assume that anyone who lives in the City of Centennial would have a Centennial address, and there had to be some change there?

So maybe only when an area actually incorporates or gets absorbed by an existing incorporation would the city address have possibility to change?

Anyways...... before yesterday, if I had to get out for any reason to the TriZetta headquarters, even with GPS mapping and all that..... I still probably would have been confused and quite possibly gotten lost (being I think myself a reasonable person here) knowing approximately where the City of Englewood actually is..... as opposed to the relativity of where TriZetta is........

On that note, here is the development overview from the owners of the former Mile High United Way HQ at 18th and Central in Lower Highlands.

The proposed 18th & Central project represents a 271 unit multi-family development comprised of 203 units located in building one and 68 units in building two. Upon completion, the project will include approximately 10,200 square feet of ground floor retail and restaurant space with four levels of residential living space located above. The unit mix will be comprised of 10% studios, 77% one bedrooms and 13% two bedrooms with an average size of 675 rentable square feet (not including balconies). The project will offer secure, below grade structured parking for 332 cars in addition to bicycle storage. An additional 20 surface parking spaces will be located on the adjacent 0.11 acre parcel offering convenient retail/restaurant parking. 18th & Central will offer an upgraded amenity package with resort style pool, rooftop decks, fire pits and a state of the art fitness center. Southern Land Company will be seeking a minimum certification of LEED Silver.

This project is currently in the design phase and scheduled to be completed in 2016.

The developers site does not have any rendering of the project yet though they have designed some fairly nice apartments in other areas.
