Quoted from Airboy on the Edmonton Construction thread. Looks like they are all taken from the CN Tower.

Thanks for posting, been on job sites all day and didn't get to upload to this thread. Yes they are from midway up the CN tower. The RAM site, the air handling units are on site ready to be placed.

I looked for the owner of their current sale's office.
The 2 storeys building - along with the 977 Lucien l'Allier - was sold in 2012 (l'Avenue official announcement) to 9269-9388 QUEBEC INC.

The city allows to build up to 230 meters on those plots.
Interesting, isn't it?

I have to admit, in the past whenever I heard Torontonians compare their city to NYC, I thought it was both ridiculous and strange - why would they want to be like a smaller, less-important NY?

BUT NOW, I see that TO is transforming into a very dense, very livable version of a big city - and not a city that emulates and copies others, but its own big city. I totally get what you are saying with regards to a "Manhattan vibe". Some angles of Toronto also give me a Vancouver, Tokyo, or HK vibe too. It's amazing watching it transform at this rapid pace. If Toronto gets its transit and waterfront problems sorted, I think there is nothing that can stop it.

Honestly, if there is a serious chance that these lots are used to build such a tower, I'll start doing back flips. Do we have rumours specific to this site particularly?

No, we don't, but now we know that the 1000 de la Montagne (the current L'Avenue sales office) and the 977 Lucien l'Allier have been purchased together in 2012, the same year as L'Avenue official announcement.

I may be wrong, but it's quite a coincidence!

Did a quick search on the Registraire des entreprises du Québec, 9269-9388 Québec Inc. has this dude for president: Bachar Ghreiwati. Then I googled ''Bachar Ghreiwati'' together with ''Broccolini'' and got a few results including this one:

http://affaires.lapresse.ca/economie/imm...real-realise-deux-ventes-importantes.php

Looks like this dude paid 12,25M cash while Broccolini offered 2.5M. But who knows, it could be some sort of ''scam'' in the works between the two.

Nothing wrong with Toronto's waterfront and it's only getting better each passing year.

Where did you come from RyLucky? - you're a breath of fresh air.

As for the Manhattan vibe thing, yeah the entertainment district with its long and tall brick and stone walls and heavy pedestrian traffic reminds me of parts of NYC. Of course not there yet, but its not hard to imagine with the continued build out in the entertainment district we will be able to stand toe to toe with the other big North American cites of New York and Chicago while still maintaining our uniquely Canadian urban persona.

I hope that Toronto does not just aspire to be a big city like NYC, but be better - choosing the aspects of its urban role models that it most admires. TO certainly has the economic drive to develop how it chooses. NYC is not just great for its skyscrapers, but also for its Broadway culture, the vast Central Park, the High Line, an extensive subway network, and now a bicycle revolution! All of these amenities contribute to make NYC as desirable place to live and work, and I hope that TO recognizes the value of these public amenities as it edges closer to becoming an alpha world city.

Toronto is fast surpassing Chicago IMO. Give it 10-15 years and Toronto will be way ahead of Chitown.

Toronto definitely beats out most American cities for the shear number of suburban apartment towers. Not quite on the scale of Chinese or Brazilian cities but still it's like a forest of towers outside the downtown. It helps the whole city seem like a large urban zone when you're driving along the highways or taking the train.

That's not just a Toronto thing, that's an Ontario thing (perhaps a Canada thing? Don't know enough...).

Ottawa has got loads of suburban apartment towers especially along the Transitway. Looking at it from the air the towers clustered around the Transitway stations from Lees to Greenboro is quite impressive.

Kingston's got its fair share of suburban apartment towers too--about 20-30 of them off the top of my head. There's pretty substantial clusters of them around Bath & Princess and in Barrett Park along Highway 15.

There is lots wrong with Toronto's waterfront, but yes it's finally moving in the right direction.

That is a phenomenal set. There is so much action happening a stone's throw from the CN Tower.

K-W as well. Considerably more high-rise apartments scattered through the city than in the urban cores.

I didn't mean to give the impression it was a Toronto only thing. I was just saying it was a way Toronto beat out most US competition. I'm familiar with Ottawa, Hamilton, and St. Catherines having apartment towers scattered about. Vancouver definitely has that in spades. Winnipeg seems to have a good showing of it too. Calgary and Edmonton are both fairly centralised, but I think that's changing. Saskatchewan and the Atlantic Provinces are a bit small to say but seem to sort of have it. Quebec City has a decent number of suburban apartment towers. Montreal however is a mystery to me because Montreal forumers seem to despise showing anything but the downtown proper. Gatineau makes Ottawa look centralised though.

Montreal and Quebec City certainly have some, but probably not even as many as cities like Ottawa do.
