I would be very surprised if they don't try to get past the Bow with the spire. Considering the attention surrounding the Bow when it got built, it would be a major statement for an Edmonton tower to top it.

This adds to the CRL which should be a sizable amount once complete.

WAM's Darren Durstling indicates the height of the @stantec tower could still go up. Capable of another two office floors & the cap. #yegdt

With the close proximity of that hotel to Stantec, I'd guess they would share a common parkade/underground infrastructure? Maybe both will go up at the same time?

That would makes sense, a larger site means more efficient layouts for potentially a less-deep and cheaper parkade. They might actually combine with the whole plaza parkade to lower costs some more. rather than going 4 levels down like the City of Edmonton tower (or likely more like 5-6 due to greater height&density) they could get away with 3 or maybe even 2. Much cheaper, and you start building up significantly faster. The office parking won't often be in use during an arena event, after all.

Good point. I work at Epcor and the once the arena is open, we have to vacate the parkade by 6 to accommodate events.

So it looks like this will be the tallest building in Canada outside of Toronto and Calgary. Crazy.

Great day for E-town!

You can say what you will about Mr. Katz but I don't think anyone can question that he genuinely wants to do something great for this city.

Hats off to all involved in making the arena district happen!

^But there's still a few floors of Manulife and Epcor to look over. Better add four floors of commercial and make this thing 242m.

Holy cow, I never thought something this tall would go up in Edmonton until I got old or ended up six feet under!
