As of this morning, crews are just putting finishing touches on things. Overhead signage is up (only covered in black tarps), all the paving is done. All that's really left to do now is paint lines and for MTO to give it a final inspection.

Yesterday I was in the right place at the right time and caught a glimpse of an overhead sign they were installing. The new Hunt Club sign has the airport icon on it.

They're also replacing the Walkley exit signs with overhead signs, too... the 'last minute' one for the WB Walkley exit was half up this morning. With the Innes was already replaced with overheads last year, we now have overhead exit signs all the way out to and including Hunt Club. It definitely changes the feel of the highway, makes it seem much more like an urban freeway.

I noticed that too. The final works being completed at the Hawthorne/Hunt Club intersection this morning - new lane configuration on the west approach and a new set of signals installed on Hunt Club east of Hawthorne (beyond the new Ultramar at the corner).

Can't wait for this to open - I'll be using this connection twice a day.

Is the city allowing lot creation along the new stretch of Hunt Club between Hawthorne & the 417? I could see lots of interest from industrial & commercial developers for such properties.

The ramps were painted today, including the merge lanes on the highway. So close...

Last I heard, CLV owned the properties on the north side of Hunt Club immediately east of Hawthorne. http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=187180

http://www.obj.ca/Real-Estate/Non-reside...%3A-Development-pressures-on-Hawthorne/1

Looks like NCC owns the rest.

EDIT: http://www.ottawacommunitynews.com/news-...rchange-at-hunt-club-nearing-completion/
According to this Hydro Ottawa has bought some of the land for their new east depot. Hydro Ottawa plans to close their locations on Albion North and Bank Street South which are end of life and replace them with a new east depot and a west depot for better response times. That would explain why CLV is no longer advertising the land!

If they were smart, they would limit access onto Hunt Club, but that ship has sailed...

MTO has made several numbering errors. Indeed 108 is ideal, and even 107 would be a better number.

Biggest error (later corrected) was on Highway 400 north of Parry Sound they signed at km 241 "Exit 247" when it opened at Highway 559.

That ship was never built.

There's a large gas station under construction on the North East corner. I didn't recognize the brand.

Looks that way. Also looking at the City of Ottawa traffic camera at Hunt Club and Hawthorne yesterday pointing east, there weren't any lines yet painted on that section of the unopened road. And there are still concrete barriers up.

Concrete barriers blocking Hunt Club extension east of Hawthorne were removed today and replaced with barrels. New ground mounted road signage also in place.

The City put a PVMS sign on Hunt Club in the EB direction approaching Hawthorne - no doubt for the road opening.

Ultramar. Funny enough, there already is an Ultramar less than 1km north at Stevenage.

I hope it is actually done and this isn't a Lansdowne style potemkin opening so the mayor can have a fancy photo op outside the 60 day election window.

Anything that allows another potential East/West option during the Queensway mess is certainly welcome news.

PVMS sign on Hunt Club WB says Hunt Club to Hwy 417 open at 10am.
