Outside of US being so darn small, the structure is "priceless." Remember, US was built when Denver was a small city, compared to KC, St Louis, Cincinnati, etc. (With the ropes up, the interior place is truly tiny.)
In addition, US was built as a highly functional structure with about 10 through tracks. The railroad industry wanted something supremely functional, yet substantial enough to sell both railroads being cutting edge technologically, and, financially secure (people remember get rich schemes, and the railroad age was filled with shady characters).
Unfortunately, when the DUS transportation complex is viewed as a unit in 2014, the complex does not approach early 20th Century functionality.
I would love US if it was not part of the Complex, and, poor design overall had not been at the expense of a very beautiful building.
