CF-18s would be a better and more readily available air plane. We could get airforce to conduct a maple flag style training exercise at Suffield. I would even chip in $50 to buy a beater for the planes to conduct target practice, on the condition that I get access pass for prime spotting location.

Would make for a great 6am wake up call for all of Calgary, hell make it 7am when the Bars open up.

Hey BigTime; Get OnTheFly app by google (they have both ios and android versions), you can find the best prices. You cannot book with this one but can get best pricing options.

I don't think you can purchase tickets thru Google. They just show you the prices and then maybe redirect you to the airline. You purchase the tickets directly from the airline.

I like how the one guy downloaded a "dB meter app" to build his case against the noise. Like those are accurate.

On the topic of noise, I live in Harvest Hills and I haven't noticed air traffic noise considerably reduced since the opening of 17L/35R. The reduction in traffic using 17R/35L, and presumably less traffic on 11/29, has made a very noticable positive difference in my community, at least from my perspective.

The Db measurement could vary a bunch solely based on the orientation of the phone, not to mention a whole nuch of other reasons why it wouldn't be accurate.

The guy is right about people getting used to it. Only two things would get people to even look up at the 29 departures blasting over Panorama: the American mad dog, lower and louder than everybody else, and KLM cause of that eye-catching blue and they're really the only heavy that would come off 29 (and still outclimb the mad dog, it seemed)

Letting 29 departures wake me up in the morning was much more fun than setting an alarm clock.

I've only been home for a couple of days this week, but my initial observations are an almost complete absence of aircraft flying over my house now that 11/29 isn't being used much anymore. I live in Tuscany and used to get all the WB departures coming off 29 and a lot of arrivals landing 11. Now there's not much to see.

Ahh I see your post now from yesterday morning, indeed... must be to balance traffic as company behind him had about a 20 mile downwind for 17L. I lost the charger for my radio so until I find it all I have is FR24 to figure things out.

I live in the NE and definitely notice more planes and more noise. Sometimes its constant for an hour or two at a time. They are so much closer than they used to be. Saying that I can't say it bothers me much.

I did notice today that the planes taking off from the new runway from north to south seemed to veer off to the east right away, perhaps to avoid fllying over more populated areas?

Not sure but I think the banking has more to do with avoiding flight paths of other planes taking off/landing
