Yeah. My first time to GCM was a couple of days ago. When I walked in and saw "Egg Slut" it made me laugh, the name choice was surprising to me, but also intrigued to see what it was about. I also over heard someone who was walking in behind me say that the name was in a way offensive for a lack of a better word. I don't think its toooo offensive, but it gets the job done with getting your attention even if its using a not so appealing term. Good food though.

It is interesting how this little intersection around the corner from the Eastern Columbia has three South American owned establishments, 1810 Argentinean, the Pattern Bar and Wood Spoon. Too bad the Peruvian restaurant on 7th (Mo Chica) did not join our Little South American neighborhood! Now, let's hope the former Tiara Cafe space finds a tenant. That is a great space.

I am pretty sure Eduardo Castillo (Pattern Bar) is from Argentina and the owner of Wood Spoon is from Brazil.

Well....I'm happy that Metropolis will most likely be going forward, when I first saw that huge lot I was surprised nothing went there sooner, but why does a global billion dollar company feel the need for a $39 million dollar tax break ? granted the benefits of the jobs it will create and the density it will add to the city and the $39 million will be spread out over 25 years, which I think is excessive, but why did they ask for it ? they aren't necessarily struggling as a company. But either way the city will be seeing an increase in tax revenue from the development but I just thought it was peculiar.

They asked because the city has set up the precedent and they knew they could get it.

Any responsible corporation would do that (to maximize profits), and of course the politicians in the city are just the chumps to allow it. Unless they draw a line somewhere, they will continue to subsidize this and other undeserving industries for many years to come

My only concern is that I don't want other developers to use this little incentive to be a " give us this or else" type deal where the city gets screwed for an incentive that it created. But if it means we can see more developments come online sooner than im all for it I guess.

Well it's already at this point. The city has said we need 10,000 hotel rooms. I think the city should have allowed some moderate subsidy to developers for these rooms After that SOL. Unfortunately the city is now taking projects on a case by case basis.

The city is still going to make $117 million in taxes before the tax break expires on Metropolis. Greenland would still build Metropolis without the tax break, but they would have put condos or apartments in the hotel building instead of hotel rooms.

Drove on the 110 through downtown and looked over at the Metropolis site, today, the 4th, there were men with survey equipment working. A trailer with a backhoe is also on-site.
