New departure and arrival procedures for the new runway are active as of this morning. Pilots now see the new runway and its associated charts, but obviously the runway is closed by NOTAM until 2 pm on June 28, and the ILS is inop until 6 pm on Monday the 30th... visuals/RNAV approaches only for the first couple days I guess.
Pilots unfamiliar with the field will surely be aware as they are pretty critical NOTAM's, but it will be interesting to hear them talking about it.

Surely this is the first day in the history of the airport that 3 regularly scheduled 777's will be arriving. KLM 777 will be on gate 43, Heathrow 77W will be on 23, and the Frankfurt 77W will be right next door on 24, arriving at 3:00 and 3:05 respectively. KLM is usually airborne around 3:30, so all 3 will be on the field.

I call an aircraft operating with 18-20 hours utilization for 9 days straight an excellent maintained airplane and best asset in the fleet. Too bad AC head shed wants to get rid of the 333 as fast as possible.

Haven't heard anyone even suggest this before, but prior to committing to ditching them, surely AC considered the economics of ~346 seats in there like Transat's 333's have now...including 12 faux J class seats. Either way, based on the direction AC is going with the sardine cans and the slightly less sardine can mods to the existing 777, even the most casual of observers can see that 37 pods in an A330 sticks out like a sore thumb within the fleet. 788 economics must destroy it, with only 14 less total seats... but a whopping 17 less J seats. Am I correct in this assessment, Cage?

I thought AC originally wanted to get rid of the 330's ASAP but then decided to keep them. Now they want to get rid of them ASAP again or are you simply stating AC's long term plan of getting rid of them? Is there some kind of time frame for the 330's to leave?
I will miss the 330 and the 767 when they are both gone.
