Anyone's assessment of noise is all subjective - to say someone else's personal opinion is "simply not correct" is wrong. Why should that person's personal evaluation of air traffic noise be discredited as compared to yours?

I remember back 80's and early 90's the airport authority had a display in the terminal (probably around the area that is now a hallway to the Banff Hall area) that showed a map of the city and decibel readings around it related to the airport. It was pretty cool to see. I wonder if they would do anything like that again that could be viewed online?

I was over there on a Sunday and we had to stop our conversation as a plane flew overhead. It was very loud. Now if that goes on during the week? It could just be he at work all day, and doesn't notice!

I was just wondering if the new runway would alleviate some of that, or if it won't make much difference due to the wind direction. Do they currently use the cross runway as congestion relief, or only in high crosswind situations?

29/11 is used right now as part of the regular operations in conjunction with 35L/17R.

What you will see once the parallel opens is that they will be the "go to" for almost all operations. Of course the Chinook and strong westerly wind days will need to fall back on 29 once crosswind limits start getting exceeded on the parallels.

In one of their planning documents they likely have NEF contours at the very least.

So AC Rouge just announced year round service YYZ-HNL on Wednesday and Sundays starting in November.

Just how bad would that flight be in economy?

We'll find out soon when the YYC flight gets Rouged as well, although it wont be quite as bad due to it being a shorter flight.

Flew Transat to Mexico this spring and was very impressed with the new interiors. Great inflight entertainment system, and the seats were reasonably comfortable and seemed spacious enough. And I'm a big guy.

I'm guessing the main reason YYC-OGG didn't get rouged this time around is because the 767 that flies the route connects to NRT from YYC. There is no way YYC-NRT will go to rouge, so therefore if OGG gets rouged it will mess up the scheduling from YYC.

Yes, but they would have rework the scheduling from here because the 767 from OGG wouldn't be able to connect onto NRT like it currently does. Hopefully we will see something like 4x weekly OGG and 3x weekly HNL on rouge aircraft based in YYC. The mainline aircraft that does NRT could go YYZ-YYC-NRT again for the winter months.

I would think 767 scheduling is also closely tied to the 787 deliveries. Given that 787 has been delayed for AC, I would agree maybe YYC-OGG stays mainline for this upcoming season as it is tied to NRT (as you said). I hope so as I have 3 seats booked in business on that flight this Xmas!

On a sidenote, on Flyertalk it was noted YYZ-LIM/MAD/BOG has to be flown by a wet-leased plane and crew from Euro Atlantic for 5-6 weeks in July-August because of 787 delays. Some unhappy folks there - AC is offering refunds as an option.

March stats also increased to 7.1% from 6.8%. Again, I think June will be huge because of last year's flood, I'm guessing close to 12%.
