You are right, except for the fact that the spur line is CN's.

Actually you technically were right. That track, which crosses Dewdney, is actually owned by CP. It is operated as an interchange track between the CN and CP pursuant to an agreement between the railways.

Project Description:

construction of a 33,000 seat, open air or roof-ready football stadium at Evraz Place. The project will be the new home for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. An evolution of the traditional side stand arrangement that creates more good seats, called the "infinity bowl", has been adopted. This bowl configuration is also good for adding temporary seats to increase the capacity for high profile events like the Grey Cup. Project features include; a focus on neighbourhood regeneration and community benefit; new plaza and outdoor spaces for events; a spectator roof providing an economic solution for improved spectator comfort; the ability to accommodate a closing (retractable) roof at a later date; a sunken bowl design to accommodate 33,000 fans with the ability to expand for big events; complementary to the current events and uses at Evraz Place; flexible revenue generating accommodation to respond to future needs and opportunities; a variety of lounges and suites that can be used year-round; a variety of modern fan amenities including individual seats with better views; sensible sustainability aspects specific to the Regina context - a balance of cultural, economic, and energy metrics; and suitable for stadium concerts.

Reed construction
This info is from the 2012 concept document which may or may not be reflected in the PCL/HKS design.

Reed, or as I have quoted their updates as, the Journal of Commerce are at times far from accurate. They do give a great deal of information on a project, but at times are not updated on a regular basis or may use information that has changed or is outdated.

We tend to use them as a general guideline, but would not use them as 100% factual. Changes made are not always reported accurately and unfortunately sometimes wrong.

I hope that information is wrong. The way they use the words tradition and evolution of the side stands... makes me afraid of Mosaic 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Should finally be for real this time. We had the same anticipation when the Downtown rail yard concept was released and when the Patel concept was released.

At this point there is unlikely to be much more for leaks on the design.

This is likely going to remain as the "genuine article" which is great! Minor tweaks during construction are inevitable with construction of any kind, more so with design build. But I am excited as the rest of you!

What if it's just a round, stucco-adorned structure? lol.

Most likely it will be prettier than taylor field, but I also expect it to be a bit of a let-down after all the hype.

As much as we have been hyped up about this. I feel that it will be a structure that we as fans / users will be proud of. HKS while it has done massive projects. Knows how to work on a budget and I for one feel that they will deliver a well thought-out stadium. That has some wow factor to it.

Any city in Canada would be lucky to get Investors Group Field, and with a budget significantly larger than that, this stadium should be a total knockout, especially for the smallest city in the CFL! I'm really looking forward to seeing this baby!

Can you give me an example of an HKS Architects design that has been a letdown? Thanks

I meant for the general public. We here are aware of the changes, but most people out there still envision the initial awesome renderings of the retractable roof, and then the bowl with the glass-type roof.

I think the groups involved massively oversold this project. I have realistic expectations, but I think they exaggerated initially what we were getting.

If a person has concern about the look of the project they would have been following it. And will know the changes. If they have not been following then its on them to be dissapointed. As the developers / City of Regina have released the information that we currently share and look at now.

If you aren't engaged you won't know, and if you wanted to know you would have been engaged.

It is like anything, if you don't keep looking things will change and then expectations are altered. As with anything. Being conscientious helps a lot.
