Man, this one angle is going to be so dang cool once MNP is done and glassed all of the way up. Gonna have to make a poster of it for my apartment or something.

I will miss seeing the red "S" on the skyline; it adds variety and anchors the downtown. Now all you'll see is a wall of monotonous glass -- just as the City intends.

I love how VanCityBuzz just scoops a bunch of images from this forum, slaps their logo on them, and posts them as if it's all ok. I'm sure the original content creator is pleased to know you're making advertising money from the eyeballs that come to your site and read articles and look at pictures that you stole from elsewhere.

And yes, we know you read and post to this forum and self-promote your site.

From, like, a few specific angles. Do The Timewarp (It's just a jump to the left!) and you will see it again. I mean, it — for Officedweller since it's potentially blocked in their specific view, but the rest of us will still see it lots.

MNP is really going to "make" this district. The Marine Building - MNP duo will be the anchor for West Hastings, which I think will end up as one of the most appreciated streetscapes in the city.

Are you sure those photos in the article are not taken by themselves? To be honest, I cannot tell and the same idea crossed my mind. Guess why I watermark all my photos.

It looks quite tall in that shot. Thanks for posting. I'm looking forward to seeing the flared glass above the main entrance on Hastings.

My photo, from this evening:

We can project the finished height - one more floor plus what looks like 4 more to the peak based on this model pic:

Beautiful building.
Sure is nice seeing such a large, clean unbroken wall of glass. Unblemished by — balconies and — transparent glass. Wish it was taller though....wish I could stop myself from saying that too, but I can't help it (i really cant) every time I look at a pic of this building thats what I think. It should have been taller.....followed by some cursing a clenched fist and incoherent muttering about viewcones.

I'm divided about how I feel about the viewcones, but I think if this tower would be taller than it'd have to be fatter to be more proportionate as well.

The building doesn't need to be taller to stand out from the rest. As well, no one really thought this lot would give rise to a building of this stature, paving the way for more possible infill towers elsewhere in the CBD.

It is just sad that in this city, very well designed buildings being built or to be constructed are either restricted by tiny lots, or squeezed into an obscure plot by a bridge span, or have heights restricted by Viewcones. Other insane restrictions and nimbys just add salt to the wound.

However, mediocre-looking or short stubbly buildings take centre stage in all their "glory". Bizarre huh? If a really tall structure in the likes of the MNP tower were to be constructed on the current Telus office's lot, or even at the lot next to the Main Street skytrain station, this city would have have been given an amazing shot of wonderment.

As you say, paving the way for more possible infill towers in the city, and, one hopes, setting a new standard; people may be less willing to accept mediocre infill after
witinessing how good infill can be, as in this case.
