Wasn't there a rumour that All Saints was in negotiations with pacific centre for space under nordstrom?

I would not be surprised if the metric that Vancouver offers isn't good enough for some of those brands to open flagships here.

I thought they exhausted the world supply of vintage Singer sewing machines and thus had decided to halt growth and close up shop?

Most of my wardrobe comes from AllSaints, so I'd be delighted if they opened here. However, at the same time I'm afraid it'll become the new ubiquitous look and everyone will be wearing it (isn't this always the case with new chains opening?).

Seattle isn't so far to go to shop there....

Other stores I think are missing:

-COS
-&Other Stories
-Uniqlo

I'd also like to see H&M be more like the European stores where the Divided, L.O.G.G., and suiting sections are fairly small and the store is more focused on the trendy, of-the-moment pieces. I feel like I always find great things when I'm at H&M in Europe but here it's a dud if you don't want a suit or you're not 12.

That's OK, like almost every other condo water feature in Vancouver it will be broken or turned off within a year!

All Saints and Uniqulo will both be coming to the Metro Vancouver market very soon.

How very very true I'm sure we could start a separate thread on that and keep it going for months!

I think its 125 stores in about 20 countries. Still impressive though. Glad to see a Canadian brand doing so well.

My speculation as to where Uniqlo will go:

1) Hudson's Bay's Basement
2) Granville in the Empire Theatres Redevelopment
3) Robson and Burrard (Bebe spot)

Others:
Pacific Centre (Either the new under Nordstrom portion or via shuffling around stores in the existing mall) They would be a great fit in that Rotunda space.
Somewhere on the Robson stretch via consolidation and redevelopment (Red Robins building, Below the Belt space, The stores next to where Sephora is going)

Steve Madden Shoes is opening in the former La Senza space (Or was it the Body Shop space) on Robson near the Gap/Old Below the Belt.

Steve Madden opened in the former Spring space last summer and since has closed for renovations which is a little odd. I suspect perhaps the store in that complex may be expanding to the rear where the former Below-the-Belt was. The Body Shop is still there and the La Senza space has been vacant for a couple of years but now shows 'leased'. I wish they'd redevelop that entire pink 80's piece of 🞵🞵🞵🞵 complex.

I would not be surprised if we saw more multinationals/chains snapping up space on Granville in the very near future. Also I would expect the redevelopment to continue cascading south.

The stretch of Granville south of the skytrain station is the dirtiest part of town. Always littered with garbage, smelling like pee, full of hobos and rifrafs, stained with gum, and full of obnoxious drunks especially on the weekends. I don't see how these are appealing to the multinational retailers. The City needs to have a round-the-clock cleaning crew to scrub the place down if it wants to be a world-class destination in the future. Oh, there are also too many run-down buildings that make a potential awesome street look somewhat like a ghetto. Even entertainment districts in some developing or 3rd world countries look way more appealing.

I would see the stretch north of the Bay to be more appealing to retailers like Uniglo. The office towers with street retail have more class over there.

Doesn't it feel like HBC is going to end up being eaten away at by management focusing a lot on Sak's?

Shame.

But the stretch you ranted about has way way way more foot traffic.

The buildings and frankly street does look better north of the bay but other than that it is a complete dead zone from a retail perspective. I do believe a lot of those old run down buildings will meet with a wrecking ball soon enough, that space is far too desirable with Nordstrom moving in.

I am pretty sure the space is leased, but any word on who is taking the old Quicksilver store on Granville? That was a gorgeous space with lots of a potential!

True true....... But beneficial to the retailers only if they are the right shoppers.
